U.S. now fears second major breach exposed more employee data

A second major cyber breach that might reveal far more personal and damaging information appears to have hit the U.S. government's Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

The breach was apparently carried out by hackers with connections to China and targeted a database containing copies of the government's Standard Form 86, according to news reports citing unnamed government officials. The form, available online, is a 120-page questionnaire that's answered by people seeking a national security clearance.

The Obama Administration does not appear to be honest or forthcoming regarding the massive data theft of personal information of US citizens and government employees.

The Obama Administration claimed 4 million Americans were affected. It now appears the correct number is at least 14 million and probably greater.

Form 86, which includes highly personal information, appears to have not been protected and the data stolen.

Which means that most people here who served in the military other than cooks and truck drivers will possibly have their lives ruined. China my Aunt Fanny! Soros is more like it.

The Chinese are probably salivating at the prospect of so many candidates for recruitment. And Obama is perfectly happy with that.

The chinese are good at getting people inside but they probably didn’t have too. The govt agencies don’t follow their own rules on security.

On the upside, we might finally get to see John Fraud Kerry’s SF-86 revealing that he received a dishonorable discharge from the Navy for which Jimmy Carter gave him a pardon.

Where are the congresslosers calling for hearing under oath? Shouldn’t the IT people who are paid lots of taxpayers’ money for protecting these data banks be fired? Is no one accountable for anything under the Clown Prince nobama “transformation” of America? Crickets...

I have gotten very cynical in my old age.

I no longer believe everything reported. How do we know this isn’t a false flag to get us to accept internet restrictions, for our own good, to keep us safe, blah-blah-blah.

It wouldn’t be on that form and if it’s the “Chinese” I doubt they’ll be shipping information to Julian Assange.

Accountable? ha

I’ve worked on enough government systems to be highly skeptical.

There are some which are pretty darn good, mostly related to DoD. Outside of that they spend more time finding loopholes so they don’t have to follow the rules.

that's answered by people seeking a national security clearance.

Not just federal employees anymore.

I’ve worked extensively with govt systems. I believe it, in fact I’d wager its far worse.

“Who do they think was behind this?”

You know what, it could very well be the regime’s augmenting their NSA loot of phone, email, bank, etc. records.

It could be equivalent to Hitlery’s FBI records on Republican.

This may assure 0b0z0’s “legacy” to remain untouched, or else!

Food for thought.

They are going to have to stat labeling these data breaches so that we, the public, know if this is new or old news. I would suggest that we use the CEO’s name, department and year and sequence number to identify. So this one would be Obama_OPM_2015_2 or have there been more than 2 this year?

Been on vacation and this is the first thread I've read where it was the SF86. Knew a breech had happened but didn't realize it was SF86's

Well that's just GREAT. I've only filled out that form 5 or 6 times over my career...and it does indeed have about every bit of information you have....your SS#...where you've lived...your family and friends...everything.

Boy howdy that's just.....crap.

So you might know then. These SF86’s, if they are declined, is the info still stored? This may be even broader than anyone is realizing. I applied for a job and had to fill out a metric shit ton of info (including this form I believe) but I turned down the job. So I am wondering if that info was purged??

Those in government didn’t seem to mind while watching our borders get breached for the past 30+ years. In fact they aided and abetted it.

That alone created a massive coast to coast industry of fraud.
