As America hears of more doctors leaving the profession, the head of a patient-centered national health care organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota, sees both political parties in Washington making matters worse.
“Huge things are happening under the surface that people don’t understand,” says Twila Brase, a public health nurse and the founder of the Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom in this 33 minute video interview with The Daily Caller. “The power of the doctor is becoming subsumed by the government.”
America is moving, from Brase’s perspective, from the charitable human “mission of medicine” to a cold, sterile “business of health care.” Doctors face increasing “ethical dilemmas” as their Hippocratic Oath requires them to do no harm to their patient and keep confidence.
Yet, she says government mandates are requiring doctors to breach confidences, surrender private information to outsiders and seek approval for treatment choices in order to be reimbursed. The third party of government is replacing the third party influence of insurers with a pernicious influence, Brase says.

Remember when “Those crazy right-wingers” were pilloried for even suggesting that this would be the eventual result of Obamacare?
Some clever physician needs to file a suit against some aspect of Obamacare for intruding into the private patient/physician relationship, using Roe v. Wade as the relevant precedent.
It is usually forgotten that the “reasoning” the SCOTUS used in that case was that the government could not intrude into the private patient/physician relationship, for which reason bans on what at the time were still called “therapeutic abortions” were “unconstitutional”. The argument had nothing to do with abortion per se.
I would love to watch such a suit proceed through the courts, since essentially any outcome has an upside, and pitting Obamacare against Roe v. Wade would make so many heads on the left explode.
I've been waiting for someone to articulate this sentiment to our national community since the dynamic duo of Hill/Billy Clintons were first elected!!!

IMO, the *power* of the APRN needs to be curtailed.
I suppose a patient could file the suit if directly affected so as to have standing, but physicians tend to have deeper pockets and are more likely to be in a position to have standing.
Students are selected for medical school after demonstrating intelligence, the ability to excel in demanding undergraduate courses, their creativity, and after an assessment of their personalities and motives. However soon after entering medical school and very early in their medical training, they learn to follow very regimented beurocratic rules, guidelines and procedures or they find themselves hounded by petty government beurocrats, hospital administrators insurance companies, and malpractice lawyers. Compliance, not creativity is rewarded. Group behavior not individualism is expected. There is a very high rate of burnout.

No, it’s turning them into clerk typists. When I visit my PCP, he enters the room, shakes my hand, sits down in front of the computer, swipes his ID badge on the reader and starts reading and typing. That consumes at least half of a twenty minute appointment. The worst of it is that I can go on-line and review my medical history, tests, and all that $hit, and a lot of it isn’t correct. Then I have to have a battle to have incorrect entries removed.
