I am told that John Boehner is telling the GOP members that if they vote to pass the TPA, a bill later with restrictions on immigration, among other things, will be passed to reign in Obama's actions. Boehner pulled the same trick against Congressman Marlin Stutzman not long ago, when Kevin McCarthy promised if he voted to let the massive budget bill go to the House floor, the GOP leadership would replace the bill on the floor with a smaller spending bill. But McCarthy lied to Stutzman. The leadership did no such thing. They delivered their massive spending bill to Obama, who quickly signed it. MEANWHILE, Obama is telling the Democrats in Congress to vote for TPA because it will allow him to finish his last year and a half unrestrained by the Republicans. In other words, he will run wild using the trade bill to institute left-wing agenda items. (Remember, the trade deal could not be amended by congressional Republicans.) So, when Obama, Boehner, and McConnell huddled this week to come up with a plan to push TPA through Congress, clearly they decided that lying to members of Congress and deceiving the American people was the way to win the vote.

The rule has passed 244 to 189 with a few votes still to be cast. Boehner/Obama and their conspirators have completed step one of the latest scheme.
Any republican who votes for this TPA needs to be primaried next go around. When and if it goes back to the Senate any GOP presidential candidate who knowing now what we all know votes for it needs to never be the GOP nominee.
Six years they have been negotiating this TPP. Whats the big rush now? I want to wait for the next hopefully GOP president to negotiate any new trade agreements.

They are debating a different bill now, but will vote on the TPA around noontime.
Either the GOP conservatives are hiding their cards, or the GOP has pussywhipped all the GOP members.

Mine is a Rat, and this is the only thing I have ever agreed with him on.
Thanks to Boehner/McConnell and their toadies, conservatives are actually on the side of the Dems on this one.
I can only hope the 34 conservatives as well as others are playing possum until the real floor vote.

I must be looking at different total with is 276Y 140N and 18NV with no Republican No votes.
That must have been some other procedural vote. Some of this confusion and ambiguity is intentional, I think.

I don’t have that right now. Rush Limbaugh said today the GOP is bought off by the Chamber of Commerce and that is why they are shoving this through. They have betrayed the voters over and over.
That clearly states that fast track means an up or down vote and no amendments
I KNOW that for treaties the Constitution requires 66% Senate approval and amendments are allowed. and with fast track or trade promotion they want to lower it to 51% and no amendments. that's a dictatorship and the end of America. Obama can basically rewrite USA laws as treaties override USA laws.

This is unconstitutional. We want amendments that could kill a bad bill as the Constitution allows. We want 66% approval not 51% It's sick that many are supporting this evil bill because of some candidate's position on it. we should all be united in stopping this and calling congress. This is not about a single candidate's position on it. It’ s about the destruction of America. I just want it stopped. Any American should want it stopped. It's ridiculous . I never thought I'd have to tell people on this forum that they are propagandizing for their own destruction as they are pushing this awful trade promotion authority TPA
