The sixth mass extinction on Earth has officially begun and could threaten humanity's existence
The Daily Mail ^ | June 20, 2015 | Mark Prigg

We are entering a mass extinction that threatens humanity's existence, researchers have declared.

Researchers say a new study shows 'without any significant doubt' that we are entering the sixth great mass extinction on earth.

The study says that the window for conserving threatened species is rapidly closing.

The study shows without any significant doubt that we are now entering the sixth great mass extinction event,' said Paul Ehrlich, the Bing Professor of Population Studies in biology and a senior fellow at the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment who led the research.

The new study, published in the journal Science Advances, shows that even with extremely conservative estimates, species are disappearing up to about 100 times faster than the normal rate between mass extinctions, known as the background rate....

Despite the gloomy outlook, there is a meaningful way forward, according to Ehrlich and his colleagues.

'Avoiding a true sixth mass extinction will require rapid, greatly intensified efforts to conserve already threatened species, and to alleviate pressures on their populations – notably habitat loss, over-exploitation for economic gain and climate change,' the study's authors write.

In the meantime, the researchers hope their work will inform conservation efforts, the maintenance of ecosystem services and public policy....

Just a rehash of the articles that were written during each of the first five mass extinctions.

Probably the same culprits this time too.

“Good observations. Elvis impersonators may be the only vestige of civilization left, at some point.”

Well, actually, Elvis himself, after his “death”, has traveled the globe as an Elvis impersonator.

Good game series, nonetheless. Although the looters in the game happen to also be worse than lawsuits and welfare money. The Enclave, the mutants, Etc.

True, but they are of the same mindset. Liberalism. They take what they want, do what they want and kill who they want. Liberalism defined.

All we need is a plasma rifle ans a suit of T50 and the problem vanishes quickly. but there are alternatives. I know one guy that used to be an adventurer, like you. But then he took an arrow to the knee...

"Kill us to save us. What a plan. "

It's in line with "We are going to take things from you for the common good." And to me, that means the leftists also include lives.

“The left succeeded in their goal of stupidizing and enslaving the population to their freebies. They destroyed critical and logical thought/reasoning.”

And it seems to me that it started in earnest right after WWII. When I look at our military leaders who carried us through that war successfully and I compare them to what passes for military leaders today, I am left with the notion that the dumbing down of the people through our “education system” definitely carried over to the military academies as well. All you have to do is look at men like Wesley Clark and this little prick Martin Dempsey to know that we’re in real trouble. When that bastard starts talking, I want to take a couple of rows of his ill-gotten campaign ribbons off his chest and shove them up his a$$. We will not see the problem you outline but I am saddened to think about our kids and their kids. Just hope they are part of the contingent that survives, although one wonders just what would be left in the ashes.

Short version:

In my off-Road.com years I stood on the Hualapi mountains with a BLM ranger and a bunch of econazis bemoaning the (evil organ drama music) plight of the ENDANGERED MEXICAN VOLE. (Shrieking psycho music)

There we were with a full dog and pony show including a hawkeyed that spotted chewed grass from the ENDANGERED MEXICAN VOLE. (Shrieking psycho music) at a superhuman distance.

several thousand feet above sea level.

On a rocky mountain.

In the Mohave Desert

You may have heard of the ENDANGERED MEXICAN VOLE. (Shrieking psycho music) by it’s other name...

The meadow mouse.

I wonder why it is endangered several thousand feet up the side of a rocky mountain in the middle of the hottest spot in the northern hemisphere.

1936 actually. 1936 communist goals kicked it off.

I hope we don’t see that problem. But I think we will.

Couldn't he at least be the Google Professor of Population Studies?

“1936 actually. 1936 communist goals kicked it off.”

Norm, my parents moved to San Francisco in 1936. They told me that at that time, the “professors” at UC Berkeley were openly saying that it was their stated goal to turn Berkeley into the first Communist City in the country. Sad to say, I went to UC Berkeley in the 1960’s (back when Jerry Brown’s father was gassing the student protests there with a helicopter) and even then Berkeley was well on it’s way to being communist. And now, I live about 20 miles east of (and a million miles politically) that $hit hole and it still a commie dump. So your number is right on!

To be sure there has been communism in some form everywhere even before Marx. Same ideas, different name. But from what I have read, the 1936 communist goals were the real push here in America to unify the commrades. And when you read that thing it’s basically a complete history of liberalism in America. They hit every one of the goals.

Yes, the Soviet union no longer exists in name. But thats only a name. The goals, actions and people are the same.

The same John Kerry who is now helping the Persians acquire nuclear weapons. Great work John. The species of the planet will thank you when they see those bright flashes of light. And how in the world can melting ice cause more ice. Think about it idiots. More nukes won’t cause less nukes.
