Obsolete farm equipment is right.
When they finally perfected the cotton picking machine the mechanical harvesting of cotton went from zero to 96% of the crop within 20 years. Tens of thousands of poor blacks AND WHITES lost the only job they ever knew. Most of the whites moved on, the blacks moved to the cities.
