Britain receives less than half the money it puts into the EU back as subsidies thanks to the ongoing Eurozone crisis, a new report has found. The report also found that British households could be as much as £933 a year better off if Britain left the EU.

The think tank which compiled the report advised that staying within the EU poses “serious risks”.

The comprehensive new report from Business for Britain, runs to a mammoth 1,032 pages, has found that, between 1976 and 2003 the average return from Britain’s financial input into the EU was 68 per cent, meaning that, for every £1 British taxpayers paid into the European project, just 68 pence was returned in grants and subsidies.

What's the big surprise?

The EU was designed as a massive redistribution scheme.

What did the Brits think redistribution meant? That they were going to get other people's stuff?

“...The EU was designed as a massive redistribution scheme...”

Exactly. Since when has SOCIALISM ever worked? The EU has not changed since it was formed...still a big ‘socialist state’.

Britain Gets Back Less Than Half the Money It Pays Into the EU.

But money is not the only benefit the EU enables, Brits get first choice on Jihadi Muslims and the very best Muslim child sex grooming gangs.

When did 68% become “less than half”?

In any case, glad they were able to figure out that when there are net recipients there must be net payers...

That figure alone (68%) is enough to demonstrate that membership of the EU can only ever be justified on ideological, not economic grounds. But since the Eurozone crisis, which began in 2008, the figure has dramatically worsened to the point that just 49 pence in each pound are now returned to British coffers, less than half of what is paid in. …
And imagine how much worse yet if Britain switched from pound sterling to euro. Thatcher was certainly right.

The next paragraph shows it dropped to 49 percent thanks to the eurozone crisis.

Perhaps that paragraph should’ve been excerptet then for the headline to make sense.

But like I also said, feigning surprise or outrage at something that was intended to be redistributionist from the start is somewhat daft.

The whole EU construct was set up to redistribute wealth from the - largely northern European - performers to the slackers. Hardly news to anyone who hasn’t lived under a rock the past 30 years or so.

I’m all for kicking this failed experiment into the dustbin of history and starting over with sane provisions.
