The senator claims on the campaign trail that he was the reason the Fort Hood soldiers shot in a 2009 attack were awarded Purple Hearts. Why thats stretching the truth just a tad.
Senator Ted Cruzs presidential stump speech electrifies conservative crowds with a cocktail of growls, whispers, warnings of impending doom, and at least one claim of personal accomplishment so powerful, it often brings many in the audience to their feet.

But it does provide interesting information. Senator Cruz introduced legislation in the Senate to mandate that the Pentagon award Purple Hearts to those injured at Ft. Hood. And it was this legislation that forced the Obama Administration to award the Purple Hearts.
The article talks about others who also worked on the same issue over the years. It does not mention the Obama people and the Senate Democrats who fought against it for so long. It unfairly smears Cruz as someone trying to take credit.
But it shows Cruz sponsored the legislation that got it done.
Cruz: “I was very proud last year to introduce legislation in the Senate to mandate that the Pentagon award those Purple Hearts.
The Beast: “I won those Purple Hearts.”
Liberal rag playing to the simpletons. I used to wonder how those people could sleep at night, but I came to realize defamation of conservatives is their JOB.
... for a self-inflicted wound to his buttocks from rice pellets, as a result of Kerry's decision to throw a concussion grenade into a rice pile.
What did they say about Algore inventing the Internet?
And you can bet there will be many more to come.
Another great Cruz video...

16:50 mark is where he talks about Fort Hood
Bears repeating.
Something new to support him on. I didn’t know he did this. Way to go Cruz!!!!
But Al Gore invented the internet...
Cruz should now state that being allowed to carry a gun would have been way better than being awarded any kind of medal.
From newsmax April 2015
During a campaign stop in famously independent New Hampshire on Sunday, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz trumpeted his support for guns, telling a crowd that hes “pressing” for the Senate Armed Services Committee to hold hearings to consider allowing soldiers to carry their personal concealed firearms on military bases, Politico reports
Fact: Ted Cruz supports the right of our soldiers to carry on base.
All facts not in on today's incident but it sounds like this issue may come to the forefront again.
The article is an unfair, dishonest attack on Senator Cruz.
“The article is an unfair, dishonest attack on Senator Cruz”
Yes it is, but I do not worry so much about Cruz’s ability to turn such attacks back on his enemy’s.
I’ve listened to the speech. He says his legislation and dogged determination forced DOD to recognize the combat injuries received by Ft Hood soldiers during Hassan’s attack. He never says he earned those Purple Hearts.
Which, if the author had half a brain, he would realize would be an impossible thing to claim, since the Purple Heart is won for combat wounds. Never heard Cruz claim to have been wounded in Congress. Although some probably wanted to shoot him.
I’ve been supporting him all the way, and sending him money. I am convinced that he’s the real deal ...
