While most of Hawaii experiences sweltering conditions this July, part of the Big Island might seem like winter after Mauna Kea got some snow overnight.
Officials have closed the road to the summit of Mauna Kea Friday after snow fell and caused icy road conditions. A ranger reported mixed rain and snow, fog and 1.5 inches of frozen snow on the summit.br />
Mauna Kea weather varies widely. A calm sunny day may quickly become treacherous with hurricane force winds and blizzard conditions. Summit winds above 120 mph are not uncommon. At 10:15 a.m. Friday the temperature was still a chilly 36 degrees with the wind-chill dipping to 27 degrees!

Yes, I know Mauna Kea is 14,000 feet high and gets snow regularly during the winter. But July? Not unheard of but hardly common.

At any given moment, there is somewhere in the world that's colder/hotter/drier/rainier/windier than average. And if there is climate change occurring, it's G-D MADE climate change

My church, Holy Rosary, is next to Shipman Gym. And I was at Keaau HS today turning in forms for my daughter’s driving class (she goes to a private school). And yes, muggy indeed. I just got back from Rainbow Falls and it was a ‘gushin!

It was extremely oppressive in central Indiana; too!
I frivolously wished for even MORE rain to cool things off!
My wish was answered in the afternoon!
