There are a lot of really stupid people in the world.

Just yesterday on Twitter Sheriff David Clarke said that people shouldn’t try to argue their case on the side of the road. Some moron responded that he took his case to court and still lost. Apparently the moron didn’t notice that he wasn’t dead or in jail.

About four years ago I had an experience with a local cop that shows how a little politeness on each side can be very helpful, especially for someone who has been pulled over. He stopped me for speeding, changing lanes without signaling, and for not having a current insurance card. Since I was legally carrying, I immediately informed him and presented my CCW permit. That changed everything. He immediately became friendly and said he also had a permit. Then he dropped the changing lanes improperly count, reduced the speeding count to where it would only be a local matter that would not get on the radar for my insurance, and instructed me to provide of my current insurance card with my payment of the ticket. All in all, we were nearly friends after the encounter. If that nitwit woman had been in my position, the whole thing might have escalated into a brutal shooting match.
