Donald Trump just showed why his campaign may be doomed
Fiscal Times ^ | 26 Jul 15 | Don Garver

For the past six weeks, an overarching concern for the Republican Party has been the impact that Donald Trump might have on the GOP primary election — particularly the damage he could do on the debate stage by turning an already unmanageable 10-candidate forum into a full-on circus.

On Sunday, though, Trump himself gave one of the clearest examples yet of why his candidacy is doomed to fail, and why, if handled properly, the debate stage could be his Waterloo.

Trump called in to CNN's State of the Union on Sunday morning to speak with host Jake Tapper.

Much of the appearance was, in fact, more of a Trumpian soliloquy, which appears to be his favorite form of expression, than an interview. When Tapper was eventually able to interrupt him and press for some policy specifics, however, the cracks in Trump's façade quickly became evident.

And just because you see “Business Insider” doesn’t mean they wrote the article. It was Fiscal Times.

I doubt Business Insider would have picked up the story if it weren't negative about Trump. Business Insider's editor is Henry Blodget, and I've never understood why he's not in jail for his dot-com escapades (True, he agreed to a permanent ban from the securities industry and paid a $2 million fine plus a $2 million disgorgement. But no jail time.) If that's not enough, he appears to be a hoplophobe, too.

The Fiscal Times staff doesn't sound awfully conservative, either.

Either way, I doubt that Trump's campaign is doomed.

The Trump bashers are all making a critical mistake - they are attacking the MESSENGER and ignoring the MESSAGE.

All closet big government types read Rules for Radicals.

The GOPe need to get the message that we will not be supporting Jeb and the other DEMO-lites in this race. If they try, it will be 3rd party or not at all for me.

It hasn’t gone past me and I think when it comes to picking a winner at this point in time for the Presidential contest. FR’s should really hold off till they see the whites of their eyes (with the particular exception of Bush and Lindsey) when it come to the rest of these candidates including Trump.

Cruz took a pitch from McConnell and turned it into a bases full, out of the park home run. That is where the news focus should have been this entire weekend. On what is going on in the Senate and the b/s by McConnell and on Cruz..

Instead what happened ? One of Walker’s funders at the same time probably unaware or un-coordianted with what Cruz did takes a swipe at Trump. Walkers press people disclaim it. The focus is still on Cruz’s vs McConnell action.

Trump ignores the Walker presser’s no no. Claims he can’t wait for a Walker back off. But what is really happening in the news cycle is that Cruz has grabbed the headlines focused on what’s really going on in the Senate. Focused on two issues besides cronyism; Import Export Bank, and Baby Parts.

Trump dumps on Walker with garbage also the Hill & Billy show.

Poof! The attention moves from the Senate cronyism bank issue because the GOPES and the media don’t want that IE bank issue up front. And push Trump to the front page. So we’re talking all about Trump again. Luckily the baby part issue hasn’t gone away but Cruz is off the front page and so is the IE bank issue.

Trump could have waited to bang away at Walker or even jumped on the IE bank issue. Instead what did he do ? If it were not for Hannity and Levin that door would be shut.

Yes, Trump is a bloviating fraud. HOWEVER, he is doing us all a great service by calling out the liars, the phonies and corrupt politicians.

I believe Lenin would call him a “useful idiot”

>>The Trump bashers are all making a critical mistake - they are attacking the MESSENGER and ignoring the MESSAGE.<<

Which “message”? Today’s? Yesterday’s? The message he delivered when he was a registered Democrat? Or the one he delivered as a Reform Party candidate (or some such party...not worth looking it up. Wasn’t he registered as an Independent before he declared for the GOP nomination?

Which message(s) should we ignore.

Or should we just do like everyone supporting him is doing and like him because he’s saying (today) what we want to hear? Because that’s all he’s doing. It’s called pandering, which is usually a really dirty word in here. But that’s really all he’s been doing, is pandering, which is why he’s so short on policy explanations. He doesn’t have any because you don’t need any when people just buy what you’re saying because they like hearing it said.

You really need to get out more. The police do target MDWB’s more than others. (Men Driving While Black). It’s called profiling. While they will uniformly deny it the police know that a black guy driving a Benz or a Caddy is ten times more likely to be a drug dealer or in possession of drugs or guns than the pencil necked white fellow driving a Prius. The issue isn’t whether they are ‘targeted’ the issue is justifying the profiling which no one can deny is necessary and accurate. Trump is right, profiling or targeting does happen and you are either ignorant, in denial, or just looking for anything to pick on The Donald.

As I see it -- and based on probative evidence I've accumulate over the decades -- anyone driving such a vehicle ought be profiled as a potential criminal. Clown cars like the Leaf, Tesla and the aforementioned Prius are typically driven by liberals. The facts are undeniable that by far the majority of crimes are committed by DemonRATs, such as the recent theater shooting in Lafayette, LA. Likewise anyone with a car sporting one of those silly COEXIST stickers is a leftist, prone to criminal acts. Of course, in my book, having such a sticker on a vehicle is criminal in and of itself.

Back to Donald Trump, in regard to racial profiling, his words belie his thoughts and I quote: I hope it doesn't but it might. Looks to me that Trump opposes profiling. Any real Conservative would be 100% onboard with racial profiling as an effective means to counter the black crimewave.

The destruction of the GOP is going create a void that the Democrats will fill, not one rich, Johnny-come-lately conservative billionaire on an ego trip.

The truth is there is no there there when it comes to Donald. He’s always calling people stupid, but he’s the one without any depth of knowledge on the subjects he discusses. He’s got no wisdom, no judgment, and no charm. He’s supporters seem to like him mostly because he’s so rude. That’s not the stuff of a president. We should be trying to restore the significance of the office after Clinton and Obama, not put a loudmouth reality TV star in there.

I don’t know. I believe hers is doomed, though. She’s got too much baggage and the more it drips out the more everyone realizes that that’s how it’d be if she were elected, too.
