And therefore we have begun to glorify man over God. God always honors principles, but rigid rules were an Old Testament thing, in the process of teaching Israel what the heart of the Lord was. They could only roughly prefigure what was to come at the Cross.

God always honors principles, but rigid rules were an Old Testament thing..." Once again: what?
The term "rigid" seems derogatory, as in:
- "I'm principled."
- "You're rigid."
- "He's OCD."
Seems to me that Christ was at time more "rigid" than the OT. For instance:
- OT says you can divorce you wife if you give her a bill of divorce. Christ says "No divorce". And: "Don't even think of lusting after some other woman."
- Christ says "Until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter of the law will pass away, until all things have taken place."
