The unique display, on one of the world's most recognisable structures, was aimed at sparking conversations about mass extinction.
Pictures of snow leopards, tigers and various sea creatures were shown.
A 350ft (106m) image of Cecil, the famous lion killed in Zimbabwe earlier this month, also appeared.

In all 160 species were shown, including marine mammals, insects, and even the shadow of King Kong climbing up the building.

Those crazy environmentalists will do just about anything to further their cause!
160 species highlighted! Well Done!
What is missing from that?
I don’t think the staff at the Empire State building did much to help Kong.
What about the plants? Nobody cares about the plants anymore.
HA! We were across the river but didn’t see this last night...
This is the atonement for the destruction of that noble creature whose only fault was that he loved too well and across species lines.
Had that occurred today they would have celebrated the nuptials in the same manner as any Kardashianite wedding.
Or Kong would have been pilloried for really heavy duty stalking...so difficult these times for the morally unhinged.
;>)
Too bad they didn’t show a photo of an aborted baby in that light show.
Get ready Freepers.... this is all tied to your favorite subject. PEOPLE, their babies, and their diminishing interest is saving other people’s babies.
Econ 101 - the more you have of anything, the less value is attached to same. YOU cannot change this gut level, all pervasive, worldwide fundamental law.
Anthropocentrism is finished as the driving philosophy of governments, academia — hell, Even the POPE is tiptoeing into the quicksand of over population .. and its implications.
Those ‘implications’ are all around us, but we keep putting our fingers in our ears and covering our eyes.
The average American cares more about the ASPCA than Planned Parenthood. The Average American cares more about Cecil than any of the children in the camps of Africa and Asia.
The average European is having this conversation over Sunday Dinner... wringing their hands and trying to resolve their competing emotions.
These next few years are going to be the calm before the storm. As work ENDS - and it IS ENDING, in ways the Industrial Revolution never achieved - the BIG DISCUSSION will have to happen.
WHO and HOW MANY are going to SHARE this planet with WHO AND HOW MANY other plants and animals - oceans, rivers, mountains, prairies and cities.
IT’s coming. And I”m not sure most of us have taken our fingers out of our ears. IT’s going to be very very ugly. And violent. And everything you think you believe in will be tested in ways never experienced.
Now... I expect to be ravaged.. but this discussion is way past due. Each of these threads are examples of cognitive dissonance. Each is influencing the others.. and we ignor it at our peril.
Thank-you Empire State Building! :) =^..^=
Are you sure about that I ask?
Wow—that’s pretty impressive lighting!
7 billion and going strong—I wouldn’t exactly call that an endangered species.
I’m thinking someone needs to commandeer the projector and show a jet airline striking the building to sober people up to what is really going on in the world. Instead, we get f***ing Cecil the dead lion.
Corn on the Cob!
How many Corn babies must die?
We must stop the insanity....
Only while in the womb
Or on the steets of South Chicago
What part?
econ 101 - absolutely
End of work? - positively
Whom and how many can play? - not so sure
but if my experience in Africa is any indication - blue eyes have more value than brown.
Before you all go nuts... that is not an opinion. IT is the natural implication of Econ 101.
And I experienced a taste of it when I was in Kenya after a horrific train derailment which left bodies strewn across the country side. The newspapers were all in English, so it was easy to follow the story, the rescue of only white people, and the ensuing outrage by Kenyans. BUt that was the outcome. Blacks saving only whites.
Until proven otherwise, I view this as an OPINION.
Dear Empire State Building: I would demand equal time, I want you to show MURDERED BABIES that Planned Homicide kill. When will you do it?
