This article says the Sperry glacier has been retreating since the mid-19th century. It also includes a link to a Google maps link:

If you have Google Earth installed, you can see historical imagery. There is some ups and downs to the ice...or more likely, there is a seasonal aspect to this, and much of what is visible is snow pack on to of the mountains surrounding the glacier.
