Candidate who didn't even vote wins Democratic nomination
The Journal Times.com ^ | August 5, 2015 | Rogelio V. Solis

Robert Gray of Jackson, who won the Democratic primary for governor over two candidates, Vicki Slater, a trial lawyer backed by much of the Democratic establishment and Dr. Valerie Adream Smartt Short, an obstetrician-gynecologist, is interviewed in the hallway of the state Capitol in Jackson, Miss., Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015. Gray, a long distance truck driver, was a surprise winner, having spent virtually no money on advertisement and doing a limited amount of campaigning. (AP Photo/Rogelio V. Solis)

This shows how disgusted many people are with Lawyers, and trial lawyers at that. While he IS a democrat, at least being a truck driver he knows how to work for a living.

Apparently his name was the first on the ballot.

Good for this guy. I wish him the best of luck simply because he is not an establishment pick, not a professional politician, not a grifter by nature. He does not have that arrogant smug look.

On the downside, if he’s over his head, he will be easily manipulated by all the people that are professional establishment grifters.

Another article on this guy...

I like his quote...

“It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to do what needs to be done in the state of Mississippi,” said Gray.

Won convincingly, too. 51% in a three-way race, 21% margin over the trial lawyer.

That's quite a name.

Yeah, Phil Bryant will win. However, Bryant is just Hayley Barbour's Pool Boy. The GOP in Mississippi is loaded with a bunch of go-along-to-get-along namby-pamby twinkle-toed sissies, whose heroes are Trent Lott and Thad Cochran.

It will be curious if the Dems try to remove him from the ballot, as they have tried to do in TN and SC when their non-preferred candidate won the nomination. (Hey, when you have LIVs as your base, don’t act surprised when they don’t vote in an “informed” manner as the leftist party elites want).

In California they identify what your occupation is on the ballot. People thought a trucker is a man who works for a living and could really know their wants and desires.

Think it really demonstrates the Trump phenomena. People hate lawyers and life time politicians

He was likely the only honest candidate on the entire democrat ballot.

“Nice, an easy picking for the Republicans.”

Perhaps before the Cochran spectacle, but not now. As a former Miss. Republican voter (I drove home from college just to vote for Rep. gubernatorial candidate Gil Carmichael in the 70’s) I think the disgust felt by many over the despicable and unscrupulous manner in which Cochran won the nomination (accusing a fellow Rep. of racism, etc.) still leaves a bad taste in everyone’s mouth, and I sincerely hope this lopsided victory of a man whose main claim to fame is that he isn’t part of any machine is a portent of things to come...

In DeSoto County all 4 challenged House Republicans were defeated, one was uncontested and for good reasons. In the two new districts one race has a runoff. All 7 districts will go Republican in November, I believe only one will have a democrat challenger. All seven will be real “Conservatives”. Speaker “Change the Flag” Gunn campaigned for the four incumbents who lost but I don’t see that the Flag issue made any difference.

You’ll notice Cochran easily won the general election over the creepy rat nominee despite anger over his primary shenanigans.

The R Governor will CRUSH this nobody rat by a record magin, he would have also crushed the lawyer *itch the party leaders wanted to nominate. It’s no contest.

The only rat who might win in MS is the incumbent AG, Jim Hood. Time to send that chump packing.
