Limbaugh Rips Fox, Megyn Kelly for Pushing ‘War on Women’ at Debate
Mediaite ^ | 8/7/15 | Josh Feldman

Rush Limbaugh wasn’t exactly happy about last night’s debate, and took a few shots at Fox News and Megyn Kelly for how it went down.

Donald Trump and at least one of Kelly’s own colleagues weren’t happy with her line of questioning last night, and Limbaugh pointed out today that Kelly and her co-moderators Bret Baier and Chris Wallace got far more airtime than any of the candidates.

He also brought up Kelly’s question “filled with snark about Jesus” directed at John Kasich.

But what astonished him the most was how the Fox moderators basically made it seem like there’s a Republican “war on women.” And while he didn’t single out any questions in particular, but last night Kelly confronted Trump about his sexist attacks on women and asked Scott Walker, “Would you really let a mother die rather than have an abortion?”

Fair enough. I didn’t know that bit of information, no need to be snarky about it.

Jeanine Pirro is great, the best on Fox. Greta might not be a conservative, but she has been fair to Trump and others, has had many reports on Benghazi and the IRS scandals, exposed sanctuary cities and Marilyn Mosby’s illegal behavior, and supports our troops.

Not at all a Trump fan or supporter, but even I was taken aback by the attacky nature of some of the Trump questions. And the War on Women crap is just garbage; Kelly and the Fix team know better than that (or should).

I had no real problem with the questions (watched until about 10:15).

A conservative circle-jerk may have provided some loud “here - here”s but would not have been particularly useful in distinguishing candidates.

E.g., asking each candidate “are you pro choice? yes or no” would’ve been pretty useless.

Compared to what repubs get from other media hounds, I thought it was reasonable.

Here's the thing that Rush and most of his listeners don't quite get:

If they think the questions they faced last night were "unfair" or "leading" or "insinuating" specifically to a "war on women" ....... they haven't seen anything yet.

What Donald Trump and every other candidate on that stage got last night was just a tiny preview of what the eventual nominee will face going into the 2016 Presidential Elections.

ANYONE on that stage that couldn't handle the little bit of heat they got last night should drop out of the race today.

The liberal lamestream media is going to be MERCILESS in trying to bring the Republican Candidate down. Bank on that.

Yep....use it for ‘news links’ but what people say should be taken with a grain of salt at best.

Rush apparently saw the same faux "debate" that I did. The Fox employees did not know when to shut up. Here is my previously posted assessment:

I will state my impressions, and then make tactical suggestions.

From a debate standpoint, there was virtually no debate. The Fox crew were on some sort of mission, if not an outright ego trip. They hogged much of the airtime, by directing often long queries against carefully isolated two-somes; obviously with greater hostility towards some candidates than others.

From the standpoint of oratorical techniques--I am a lifelong student of oratorical techniques--Rubio & Huckabee used their time rather well; so to a slightly lesser degree did Cruz & Carson. But none of the candidates had sufficient opportunity to show their rhetorical abilities, because of the ego or mission trip of the "moderators."

Also, for reasons of the same constraints, none of the candidates had much of an opportunity to develop any points with meaningful clarity--None!

Now, my personal bias from the start was in favor of Cruz and Trump, so I certainly appreciate Donald's ire at the way he was handled. But he needs to master two arts, which have served successful candidates throughout American history.

He needs to know when to use ire as an effective weapon & when to hold back an open display and effectively understate his displeasure with the choice of words that show he also has grace. (This can often be a very effective way to actually transfer the ire that you feel to a listener or supporter, who will feel the anger that you are suppressing by the understatement. Hollywood uses this concept endlessly to create emotional impact in movie dramas.)

Secondly, Donald needs to get a bit of Celtic lilt into his remarks, coupled with a Reaganesque smile. Again, this is a technique for stroking emotions. It is important, because ultimately most politics is driven by emotion.

Donald is completely right that there is no time to be "politically correct"; but for the same reason, it is essential to be as effective in reaching a multi-faceted, mnulti-emotion driven, audience, as possible.

I disagree......these are promoted as “Debates”....what we’ve seen thus far has not been that....rather more like the X factor with Hosts grading the candidates at will...openly and without concern for allowing the Candidates to speak on issues...to each other....rather it’s done with the Hosts. ....That is not a debate! ....That’s a show.

Chris Wallace gets all his power from the groupthinking sophistry that surrounds him.

He’s the Ed Wood of journalism to the rest of America.

Good for Rush. Megyn Kelly's head is getting as big as Bill O’Reilly’s and that's not a compliment for those of you in Rio Linda.

Hannity is the only conservative...

No, Mr. Hannity is whatever he thinks he needs to be to solidify his position.

Much like Megyn Kelly, it is all about him and his "fame" and likability.

He discovered on his Atlanta radio show that it was more prosperous to bash a liberal than it was to bash a conservative, therefore, he became a conservative.

He claims to be a student of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, but he's still using Crayola to draw stick figures on them.

I have a real problem thinking of anyone on Fox that may be a true conservative.

There are a couple that really want to be true conservatives, but are afraid to take that final step and admit it to the world.

And you are correct...Chris Wallace is anything but a conservative.

Television Journalists are truly a different breed, adaptable to any political more, as long as they can maintain their visibility and popularity.

Media whores, I think best describes most of them.
