Catholic Bishop: 'Moral Decadence' of 21st Century West 'Rivals Decline & Fall of Roman Empire’

Bishop Thomas Paprocki says that the “moral decadence of our 21st century Western world now rivals the decline and fall of the Roman Empire.”

“Historians tell us that abortion and infanticide were widespread, commonplace, and for the most part legal in the classical world of the Greeks and Romans," said Paprocki, the head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield, Illinois.

"Perhaps if they had the technology at the time, they would have sold fetal body parts for profit,” the bishop said in a July 26 video response to undercover videos released by the Center for Medical Progress in which Planned Parenthood (PP) officials appear to be discussing the sale of tissue from aborted babies.

“Since the moral decadence of our 21st century Western world now rivals the decline and fall of the Roman Empire, it should not surprise us that the nationwide abortion provider Planned Parenthood has been exposed for trafficking and selling the body parts of aborted babies.

“I say we should not be surprised, but we still should be shocked and appalled at this moral depravity,” Paprocki said.

Pointing out that “the sale or purchase of human fetal tissue is a federal felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000,” the bishop also addressed PP’s insistence that the fetal body parts were being donated rather than sold.

“Unborn babies are absolutely unable to consent to donating their organs, and the harvesting of their organs involves the premeditated killing of these babies,” Paprocki stated.

The bishop also criticized President Obama for not speaking out against PP, the nation’s largest abortion provider.

“President Obama, in 2013, was the first sitting president to address Planned Parenthood, telling them: ‘I want you to know that you’ve got a president who’s going to be right there with you fighting every step of the way.’

“What have we heard about this expose of Planned Parenthood from the White House, which was illuminated in rainbow colors when the Supreme Court made same-sex marriage legal throughout the country?” Paprocki asked.

“Silence. Deafening silence.”

And yet the Catholic Church (with the exception of a few exceptions like this bishop) is busy discussing global warming. They are just as complicit.

As St John Chrysostom is reported to have said, “The road to Hell is paved with the bones of priests and monks, and the skulls of bishops are the lamp posts that light the path.”

Time to break out my Gibbon’s “Decline and fall of the Roman Empire” to brush up on some useful quotations that are appropriate for today. And I’m not being sarcastic.

At least this Bishop is willing to speak out, and he is right. We are in decline and we are decadent.

I do not give any weight to any thing that any leader of the Catholic Church says. I’m too busy working to stop Global Warming by turning my AC down.

Thank you for sticking up for this Bishop. Not all the Catholic clergy are complicit by keeping silent or aiding and abetting in this country’s direction. There are some really good and holy people in the Church that don’t sit idly by and are doing things and speaking out. I truly believe we, the citizens of this country should take a step back and look at ourselves. We should quit blaming others for the problems of this country. We are just as if not more culpable than anyone. No body made this nation take the low road into darkness. We did it to ourselves with our freedom of choice. Opting for our own selfish reasons and thinking of the country as a whole. It is we who voted this administration and nest of vipers into office. Thinking that they would satisfy our narcissistic and hedonistic appetites for free. And this is the price we’re paying - the blame is on us....

As a wise man once said, “You get the government you deserve.”

And here we are.

Fantastic book. Garner Ted Armstrong had a shorter pamphlet often found around barber shops, The Modern Romans. We are headed in the wrong direction.

The Pope’s appointees give Communion to pro-aborts, which means that abortion is not a sin.

The Pope’s appointee in Chicago says that we should be no more appalled by the abortion of 58 million babies, and the sale of their bodies, than by unemployment.

The Pope has just instituted a new “holyday” to promote the Global Warming Hoax, and has said nothing about the sale of babies’ bodies.

The incidence of sexual abuse among priests has always been LOWER than in other professions, like teachers. It is not some SPECIAL problem, peculiar to the Catholic priesthood.

And the PROBLEM, at least in the U.S., has been STAMPED OUT. There hasn’t been a NEW case in years.
