That’s the problem with WND, too. Haven’t been able to go there for over a decade.
One machine has 4 gig of memory, another has 8 gig, both machines are nearly swamped by those websites.
Which are worse, but only by a tad, than local “news” sites that beg you, beg you, beg you to go to their website.

Do they not test these things? We did lots of testing on web-based stuff.
My machines aren’t the biggest or fastest but come on.
The Blaze locks me up every time I use it. Stopped going to that site.
Get Adblock. Run web search and find the home page and chose the version for the browser you use.
