This reminds me of the late 1970s, early 1980s when the Neosho (Grand) river in Oklahoma was polluted with PCBs.
The Oklahoma governor was filmed telling everyone the fish were now safe to eat, and he took a big bite of fried fish.
When the cameras stopped, she spat the fish out claiming it was “too cold”.

Having been involved with EPA for a number of years I agree there is no personal penalty for consequences of their personal and corporate actions. If there were such the public would have a much better life if not environment.
