Glenn Beck absolutely befuddled by pro-Trump Republican entertainers (Coulter and Co.)
Washington Examiner ^ | 8/14/2015 | T. Becket Adams

Posted on 08/15/2015 1:59:14 PM PDT by Laissez-faire capitalist

Many Republican entertainers are clearly smitten with former reality TV star Donald Trump, but for conservative commentator Glenn beck, this makes no sense.

Trump, a longtime crony capitalist, supports many liberal positions, including increased gun control and single-payer healthcare. ...

"I get it if you are tired of politicians, A Republican progressive, or you are only about winning," Beck wrote in a message posted at Facebook [link at URL]. "Perhaps you are angry and you just want to make someone pay or just want something done and you don't carte how it gets done, but what PRINCIPLES does he have that they are attracted to?"

"I really want to understand," he added.

Beck listed off a handful of reasons why conservatives should cringe at the thought of Trump's candidacy.

"[Trump] said he identifies his 'policies more as a Democrat'; he makes Obama look truly humble' he was very pro abortion until very recently;; he still says 'don't defund Planned Parenthood'; he is pro 'assault weapons ban'; he is in favor of a wealth tax that would just 'take money out of people's bank accounts'; he is for boots on the ground in Iraq and 'taking the oil' from the Iraqi people; he is a progressive 'Republican'; he says single payer health care works; he said he would give people more than just Obama care," Beck wrote.

"[T]he first Lady would be the first to have posed nude in lesbian porno shots; he said that he keeps all the bibles he is given in a 'special place' outside the city - and he only goes to church on Christmas and Easter; he is generally not a likable guy; he has around 16% favorability with Hispanics and he has gone bankrupt 4 times," he added. ...

Please show me where Trump said he was “pro choice” any time after 2000, never mind “very?”

The 2011 interviews you cite say he is pro life and “has been for many years.”

In 1999 he said he was pro choice.

In 2000 he said he was pro choice but now against partial birth abortion.

Trump is not on record any time after 2000 supporting abortion.

Ping me if you find proof that he was “pro abortion VERY recently.”

I’m noticing a pattern with Trump; he doesn’t mesh well with “Type A” personality women. Pam, Kelly, Rosie. Seems he feels he can say anything at all about or to them, without the necessity for respect. While Rosie is really a gross personality, she’s a good barometer for testing if a man has a cool temper or not.

Trump is not a diplomat, and once in the White House, things could explode pretty quickly. I’m with Beck. I find the backing of Trump by so many [conservatives] to be curious at best.

He is not a conservative , he is a liberaltarian and the media seems to not understand the difference or wants to label conservatives as nuts as many liberaltarians.

My apologies for misunderstanding what you wrote. People really are ignorant of things, aren’t they? It’s scary what our education system has become. And, to top that off - there is no reason to not do research on any subject under the sun - it’s available at the click of a mouse.

I didn’t say I support Trump. I was merely stating the reason he is surging.

Hey Glenn, it’s simple - Business As Usual Syndrome.

J. Bush is part of the problem as well as most of the other candidates on both sides.

Trump is part of the solution, along with Cruz.

It’s not that we need to get things done, we need to get things done right and stop being the worlds free ATM.

I fear some Conservatives have fallen prey to our kardashinized culture. Trump cleverly taps into the justifiable anger and frustration that Conservatives feel about the present situation, but Trump is not the solution. A Ted Cruz or a fighter such as Scott Walker would be far better.

Yes and Chris Wallace and Glen Beck certainly should understand the difference in types of bankruptcies, before making stupid comments, as that is their JOB...

I can’t believe I used to listen to that idiot Glenn Beck on the radio. I stopped about two years ago.

All the information is on the On The Issues site. I can't imagine Trump allowing it to be published if it wasn't true.

Also the wording that follows doesn't sound so good to me:
Describing himself as “pro-life,” Trump told Bloomberg News in January [2015] that he believes abortion should be banned at some point in pregnancy, with exceptions for rape, incest or life of the mother.
That's a soft definition of pro-life. Especially the "at some point in pregnancy" line... and of course, babies conceived from rape are as human as any other baby....

[emphasis; mine]

Who is Beck’s audience? The only time I listened to his radio show he just came off as so fake and boring as hell too. I keep hearing about him though. He does a lot of lame stunts to keep his name in the news I guess. Keeps saying he has some explosive announcement to make and it’s just something that everyone already knew like “Obama sucks.”

The sense that I have is that he pushes conspiracy theory-ish stuff but is very moderate politically.

I remember you. I think you're pro Israel. How do you feel about Trump's comments as regards the attempted mass murder at Garland, Tx. and Pamela Geller "taunting everybody"?

"Well, LAST TIME we voted for ‘principles’...........and guess what happened?????"

Wait, what? Voting for Mitt Romney was voting for principle? I think you have that backwards.

I ditched my principles to vote for Willard, and I learned a lesson. I will never again for a liberal.

So no Trump for me. Cruz is my man.

Nice try. I said show me a statement where Trump claims to be pro abortion any time after 2000.

I’ll wait.

I really don’t know who his audience is. He and his side sick, Pat and Stu, come off as the male version of “The View,” IMO. I stopped listening a very long time ago. Too much silliness, and Beck talking like he was the Pope or something. Don’t get me wrong - I am a Christian and believe in sharing my faith. However, one has to be led by the Holy Spirit when to speak and when to keep your mouth shut.
