Glenn Beck absolutely befuddled by pro-Trump Republican entertainers (Coulter and Co.)
Washington Examiner ^ | 8/14/2015 | T. Becket Adams

Posted on 08/15/2015 1:59:14 PM PDT by Laissez-faire capitalist

Many Republican entertainers are clearly smitten with former reality TV star Donald Trump, but for conservative commentator Glenn beck, this makes no sense.

Trump, a longtime crony capitalist, supports many liberal positions, including increased gun control and single-payer healthcare. ...

"I get it if you are tired of politicians, A Republican progressive, or you are only about winning," Beck wrote in a message posted at Facebook [link at URL]. "Perhaps you are angry and you just want to make someone pay or just want something done and you don't carte how it gets done, but what PRINCIPLES does he have that they are attracted to?"

"I really want to understand," he added.

Beck listed off a handful of reasons why conservatives should cringe at the thought of Trump's candidacy.

"[Trump] said he identifies his 'policies more as a Democrat'; he makes Obama look truly humble' he was very pro abortion until very recently;; he still says 'don't defund Planned Parenthood'; he is pro 'assault weapons ban'; he is in favor of a wealth tax that would just 'take money out of people's bank accounts'; he is for boots on the ground in Iraq and 'taking the oil' from the Iraqi people; he is a progressive 'Republican'; he says single payer health care works; he said he would give people more than just Obama care," Beck wrote.

"[T]he first Lady would be the first to have posed nude in lesbian porno shots; he said that he keeps all the bibles he is given in a 'special place' outside the city - and he only goes to church on Christmas and Easter; he is generally not a likable guy; he has around 16% favorability with Hispanics and he has gone bankrupt 4 times," he added. ...

I sure used to care about Glenn Beck, but since he left Fox, much of what I see is Glenn’s silly, overwrought manner of thinking and expression. His radio show is at turns too preachy, pompous or juvenile. If Glenn sticks to the format of being The Teacher, and The Informer, that character, I can usually take. Colonel Chicken Little, I don’t want.
That’s what Alex Jones is for.

I caught, unfortunately, five minutes of his show the other day. He was interviewing some politician and he asked him...”How is your soul?”

(Flaws and all? Yeah, its just “flaws.” No political expediency here to see.) /s.

If it was anyone else they would be called a RINO/CINO, but Trump seems to get away with it.

Sexton is not his sidekick. Pat and Stu are his sidekicks. Sexton has a separate show.

Okay, thanks. I haven't listened to the show in a long time (I guess I shouldn't have posted for that reason.)

He is befuddled because he has been misinformed— there are at least 6 of his assertions of fact that are dead wrong.. I would suggest he do some research..

Can you be specific?

Why should we trust Trump?

Why vote at all for anyone?

IOW, if the politicals can’t be trusted because of their flip-flops and pandering, why vote for Trump?

I suppose you are right that character counts... but can you say with certainty that Trump’s character is extremely deficient based upon some comments about Pam Geller.. What do you say about other leaders and thinkers such as the ones who had illegitimate children and owned slaves..

I have seen no proof that he is pro-Soros.

The Beck Derangement Syndrome people may say many things or may attack him personally, but I have seen no proof of your assertion.

Beck has said that he is a conservative, but said as well that he does have libertarian leanings.

But given what Beck said about Trumps and guns, Trump and health care, Trump and PP and so on, it wouldn’t matter one bit if Beck leans libertarian in some areas? Beck isn’t running for the GOP nomination.

Trump hasn’t been shown to be a liar after being elected like almost every single republican has.

Personally I support Ted Cruz. I think he’s an honest man. But it seems apparent that there are a lot of people out there who don’t, otherwise he’d be higher in the polls, I expect. I still hope that Cruz is able to win out, because I do not believe that Trump is a conservative.

But it seems very clear at this point that there are a lot of people in this country who have absolutely ****ing had it with the GOP, and I can’t blame them.

I don’t care. So-called serious people have been elected and have totally stabbed us in the back over and over.

I just like the fact someone is whacking the hornet’s nest with a baseball bat.

Please, after Bush 41, Clinton, Bush 43 and Obama, tell me how it could get worse than Trump.

Same here. I bet you anything he’s bleeding money....which is why he’s pulling this 8/28 stunt in B’ham, AL.

Coulter’s support of Trump shouldn’t surprise Beck. She has a habit of supporting RINOs. Plus Trump’s utter lack of tact and love of name calling is right up her alley.

As for Trump’s positions, c’mon Beck. Lots of people do total 180’s on nearly every major policy under the sun all at once all right before running for office. I’m sure Trump is totally sincere, right?

I am surprised to see the support for the CINOs on talk radio by directing their attacks on Beck.

No problem at all. I find Beck, Pat and Stu insufferable. I simply cannot listen to them. They provide zero insight to anything other than pointless cackling and giggling.

I mean seriously, they might spend 5 minutes of a three hour show talking politics, the rest is just useless noise.

Sexton, on the other hand, is a pretty smart guy. He’s dry, and he doesn’t seem to be a fan of Trump, but he mostly sticks to business and has unique analysis of things, especially as a former cia intelligence person.

Trump is not a serious thinker as our Founding Father’s certainly were. I think Grover Cleveland was a good President (”...gone to the Whitehouse, ha, ha, ha”), but people didn’t consider illegitimacy back then very moral.

Frankly, no one on this forum gives a rat’s behind what Glenn Beck says or thinks.

There are plenty here that agree 100% with Beck on this one though, and they do in spite of Cruz and Levin avoiding the Trump Trash talk.
