I think you are conflating being sick of immigration with being sick of illegal immigration.

So, no matter if Trump seems to look like Romney 2.0 that doesn’t matter to you?

Trump is the anti-Romney.

Romney was the perfect example of the GOPe candidate. Brought up from within the party, the son of of a party loyalist, inoffensive when dealing with Obama, ruthless when dealing with conservative challengers.

Romney would have been much, much better than Obama when it comes to foreign policy, but domestically? He pioneered what became Obamacare, he’d be for “a pathway to citizenship” or some other dodgy term for amnesty, and the federal government would still be wresting control of education from the states. Romney wouldn’t have put on the rainbow lightshow after the Supremes invented a constitutional right to homosexual marriage, he’d have a press conference reminding everyone it’s “decided law” and then do a low key event to endorse the “new reality”. Same result, just less arrogant.

Trump may morph into Romney 2.0 after he gets elected. Anything is possible, and the GOP has a long and illustrious history of running to the right and moving lefter after election day, so it could turn out that Trump is no different.

But if we go GOPe, we are guaranteed that things will be no different. Trump might be a dubious line to grab ahold of, but I’m taking it rather than waiting for the party of McConnell and Boehner to decide that they might want to rescue the conservative base that they pushed off the boat in the first place.

FUGOPE. Go Trump.

No, I’m not conflating anything. The American People are sick of immigration.

I didn’t say I support Trump. I was merely stating the reason he is surging.
