The White House faced backlash on Twitter Tuesday after it altered a Straight Outta Compton film poster to push the controversial Iran deal.
The @TheIranDeal Twitter account the official White House account for the deal jumped into the meme-making craze for the N.W.A. film Straight Outta Compton after Buzzfeed called it the most memetacular film of 2015.
The White Housereplied by saying, @BuzzFeed And thanks to the #IranDeal, Iran will be , linking to a meme that read, Straight Outta Uranium.
Buzzfeed responded to the tweet in an article titled The White House just completely ruined the Straight Outta Compton meme.
Among the more troubling parts of the tweet, aside from the general terribleness of political accounts, is that the deal doesnt actually get rid of all of Irans uranium, Buzzfeed reported. The deal as announced and pored over places limits on Irans nuclear program, but still lets them enrich to a certain (not usable in a weapon) point.
A White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Buzzfeed that the tweet was meant to reach a broad base of Twitter users.
