Two pieces of new debris have been found in the Maldives and experts will determine if they are linked to missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (pix).
He said one was a "honeycomb material" while the other had a flat surface.
"It is very small, about the size of your hand," he said when asked to explain on the new finding on Sunday.
"The first thing we have to do is to determine if it is actually of plane material," Liow said adding that the discovery was made two days ago.
"Our team here will confirm if they belong to a plane and if a confirmation is made, the pieces will be sent to the international investigation team to determine if they are from MH370," he said.
Liow added that the verification by the Malaysian team should not take long.
Flight MH370, with 227 passengers and 12 crew members, left KL International Airport on March 8, and disappeared from radar about an hour later. Â It was to have arrived in Beijing at 6.30am on the same day.
The Boeing 777 aircraft has yet to be found even after an exhaustive search in the southern Indian Ocean where it is believed to have gone down after veering off course.

It came in low over the Maldives, multiple witnesses, but because of some bogus calculations based on questionable data and more questionable assumptions, no one bothered to look.
Isn’t there an island at southern end that has a seasonal resort and own landing strip?
If you look at the ocean flow, it’s had plenty of time to get there from about anywhere in the Indian Ocean. If it had turned up a few weeks after the disappearance, your theory would have some support. But at this late date, your conclusion is made from scratch.

[snip] A private British satellite company used a wave phenomenon discovered in the nineteenth century to analyse the seven pings its satellite picked up from Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 and determine its tragic final destination... to conclude that the Boeing 777 ... crashed thousands of miles away in the southern Indian Ocean... From the time the signals took to reach the satellite, belonging to the UK firm Inmarsat, and the angle of elevation, Inmarsat was able to provide two arcs, one north and one south that the aircraft could have taken. Besides, everyone knows the plane landed in Pakistan.
I thught they flew it across to Somaliland.
I call bull.
After pookistan it was cut up and shipped to Houston an the #BLM group is stripping it now, as we speak, for all recyclables.
A lot of islands in the area. Many without names on the map I was looking on. Can any one lay a map on the flow charts given a couple if weeks ago ?
Only 200 of 1000+ islands inhabited. Shame there wasn’t earlier search
Where are the two locations where material has been found on that chart ?
Should help narrow the search if they shared the same path
The two locations that debris have been found are Reunion Island and the Maldive island chain. The distance between the two is 2009 miles or 3233km.
