“Didn’t Chertoff (Bush’s homeland security) have a substantial interest in one of the companies selling those scanners?”

Sure did. Rapiscan. $173M contract. They were installed in the wake of the Underwear Bombing attempt. Michigan lawyer Kurt Haskell is on record that a well dressed older Indian man escorted the would be bomber through security and apparently onto Delta 253 without proper ID. Rapiscan is a division of OSI systems. Its CEO is Deepak Chopra
Make of that what you will

What ever the case a “SDM” Sharp Dressed Man was seen trying to get the bomber on the plane. Apparently successfully.
