Neighborhoods took care of their own back then, and this being an old lady its sick, if I was young and did this plus making the news, I do not think I would be able to sit down for 3 months for I would be tore up by my family and that is before going to jail.
My mom related this story to me:
A black guy attacked a white girl in Newark. He was chased into a blind alley by a bunch of local guys. Rather than going into the alley, they just waited for him to come out, for two days. Police rode or walked by knowing full well what was going on and did not interfere. Finally the guy came out and was promptly beaten to death. No charges were ever filed.
Sounds like justice served quickly and absolutely.
