Rivlin: Israel has 'right' to settle in West Bank [Psalms 60]

President Reuven Rivlin said during talks with settler leaders on Monday that Israel had a "right" to build settlements in the West Bank, his office said in a statement.

"I love the land of Israel with all my heart. I have never and will never give up on this land. For me, our right to this land is not a matter of political debate. It is a basic fact of modern Zionism," Rivlin said,

For Rivlin the "land of Israel" includes the West Bank, where Jewish settlements are considered illegal under international law.

"We must not give anyone the sense that we are in any doubt about our right to our land. For me, the settlement of the land of Israel is an expression of that right, our historical right, our national right," Rivlin said. "I have no doubt that it is clear to all of us, that in order to realize the ultimate goal of building the land of Israel, we must be sure to do so only with the use of the legal tools available to us. Our sovereignty in this land, means responsibility for all those who live here, and obliges all of us to uphold the strictest of moral codes, which is inherent in each and every one of us," the president continued...

This comment from President Rivlin is likely to elicit great consternation from the Obama administration. It shows that the Israelis will not (for now) agree to abide by a Palestinian State resolution (especially at 1967 borders). Such an agreement would greatly increase the existential threat they already face by the surrounding nations committed to their destruction by creating what they call "holocaust" borders. In the grand scheme of things, Arab, Israeli, United Nations, and all of our opinions regarding Israel mean very little. The only opinion that matters in the end is God's. What does the God of the Bible say about Israeli borders? How does the God of the Bible view Arab grievances over "the occupation" or so called "stolen lands". In God's eyes, whose land is it, really?

God himself who will "end the occupation" of Palestine, however it will not be Jews who are removed, but rather Arabs who are committed to Israel's destruction. Psalms 83, Isaiah 17, Jeremiah 49, and other verses in the bible reveal that a coming middle east war be fought not over the West Bank (Judea and Samaria), but over the East Bank (Jordan). The results will be devastating for the nations surrounding Israel...

Psalms 60:4 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. 5 That thy beloved may be delivered ; save with thy right hand, and hear me. 6 God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice , I will divide Shechem (West Bank), and mete out the valley of Succoth (Jordan River Valley). 7 Gilead (Northern Jordan) is mine, and Manasseh (Northern Jordan) is mine; Ephraim (West Bank) also is the strength of mine head; Judah (West Bank) is my lawgiver; 8 Moab (Central Jordan) is my washpot * ; over Edom (Southern Jordan) will I cast out my shoe: Philistia (Gaza), triumph thou because of me. 9 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom (Southern Jordan)? 10 Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off ? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies? 11 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. 12 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

Israel has a right to settle the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Golan. They took these lands from vastly superior enemies attacking them, defeating them by God’s Grace and the force of Israeli arms.
There can be no better right to these lands.

Agreed! They actually have the God given right to take much of the East Bank (Jordan) as well. That is what Psalms 60, 108, and Jeremiah 49 are about...

God promised Abraham that the descendants of his son Isaac would inherit all the land between the Nile river and the Euphrates river. Israel has never possessed all that land, but God's promise will be fulfilled at some point of time in the future whether the UN and Obama approve or not. Puny human beings can't cancel a promise made by Almighty God who owns all the earth and can give it to whoever He pleases.

Rivlin: Israel has 'right' to settle in West Bank [Psalms 60]

Of course Israel has that right, Captain Obvious.

Israel is a sovereign country.
The West Bank is part of Israel (as is the Gaza Strip.
And it has nothing to do with any Psalm.

The point of the post was to show that the God of Israel, 3000 years ago through King David, showed that the land of Israel would be contested by the world. In Joel 3 and Zechariah 12, God says that He will bring the world into judgment for “dividing His land” that He gave to the sons of Jacob.

For Rivlin the "land of Israel" includes the West Bank, where Jewish settlements are considered illegal under international law.

Considered by whom? Murdering Mass Murdering Sandmaggots?

What international Law?
The same one controlling the killer Sandmaggot Murdering Mass Murdererss in Syria and Iraq and Turkey and Iran etc., etc?

I agree with you! You cannot explain this situation logically. It can only be explained spiritually. The world is making a huge spiritual decision, just like Herod of old (John the Baptist, or his Arab leaders). Will the world side with Israel and truth, freedom, and love? Or will the world side with the Islamic Arab lie (and oil money)? The Bible is clear that the world will side with Islam. However, God Himself will intervene (Joel 3, Zechariah 14, Isaiah 63), and judge the world in Righteousness, and set up His Kingdom (Psalms 2)!

The point of the post was to show that...

And my point is...

That Holy Scripture is what it is.

For those who don't believe in it, the post is irrelevant.

For those who do, they don't need any mortal man (even Jan Sobieski) to presume to be clad in the mantle of authority to beat us over the head with what is.

The immediate problem is how to deal with today's Muslim Mass Murderers.
That is a secular duty and a pressing one.
Biblical citations by the delusional play no role in that.

That is not what I said.

The problem is of the physical world, and it can only be solved by those of us existing in the physical world.

Unless you have access to the authority that there is no useful limit as to how many victims must be brutalized worldwide before we physically and decisively take up arms against the evil.

Like it or not, secular authority and force is what rules the physical world, for good or evil.

It would seem like that. However I believe the even the “authorities” and “world leaders” are on a leash. They can only do what they are allowed by God. He always has the final Word.

Delusional?

Apparently you don't believe that the bible is God's written Word and His promises in that written Word are always kept. If you did you would know that every square inch of the land between the Nile and the Euphrates rivers is owned by the descendants of Abraham. The vast majority of that land has never been occupied by it's Israeli owners, but it will be at some point in the future when it's rightful owners realize that their promised Messiah is Jesus and accept Him as Israel's Lord and King.

Israel doesn't use the bible as the basis for the laws imposed on the Palestinians or justification for settlements in the occupied territories.

Since Israel won the war, they can occupy the territories and under international laws they are required to establish laws for the Palestinians. So for almost 50 years they have had the laws and the laws have done a lot of evolving.

Under international law Israel is allowed to seize any lands that they need to administer the territories, but they are not allowed to seize lands on which Israeli citizens can settle. The first Israeli settlements in the territories after the war were ruled illegal by the Israel Supreme Court.

Israel would then utilize "Mawat Law", an Ottoman Empire law that allows unused land beyond a certain distance from a settlement to revert to the state, in this case Israel, afterwhich the land can be used for settlement.

There are a higher grounds that are rocky and not suitable for farming and consequently unused, although the lower lands surrounding are likely farmed. Because they are higher ground, they are easier to defend, and well suited for settlement.

A few years ago a documentary was produced in Israel examining Palestinian law, which was titled "The Law in These Parts". Its a series of interviews of men who were military administrators, lawyers, and judges who devised and implemented the laws thru the years and decades.

It can be found on YouTube and is informative, but it is not in English so you have to read the subtitles.

Thank you for this information. It is certainly interesting and I will watch it in its entirety.

I understand that Israel does not use the Bible as their basis or justification for settlements. However it is interesting that the many Israelite writers of the Bible (e.g. David, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Joel, etc.) foretold that the borders of the land of Israel would be an "international dilemma" which would require God's intervention.
