One out of four U.S. employers may soon face a steep new Obamacare tax on the insurance coverage they offer workers, unless they take steps to reduce overall spending on the plans.
A new analysis released Tuesday by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 26 percent of employers offer health benefits that could be subject to the Affordable Care Act's "Cadillac" tax on high-cost plans when it starts in 2018.
The tax kicks in when the total spending on a health plan — including the employer and employee premium contributions — exceeds $10,022 for an individual or $27,500 for a family. Total spending includes not just the cost of the plan, but also any contributions made to a health savings account or a flexible spending account.
It's expected to prompt many employers to pare down the benefits they offer in order to duck the tax, which will equal 40 percent of the difference between a plan's total cost and the allowed threshold.

ObamaCare = No Care = Death Care?
The ObamaCare “Cadillac” tax is intentionally planned to hit all employer health care plans. The reason is the threshold is linked to overall inflation not health care inflation which is much higher. The intention is to end employer plans and force all people to buy an ObamaCare on the exchanges.
A friend who was unemployed within the past year signed up for one of the cheaper O’Commie plans out of necessity. He has type 2 diabetes, but cannot get any coverage for it. He is on a suicide mission now.

My small hometown in Indiana is facing this “benefit” from Obamacare. It was brought up at the city board meeting and everyone is agast at it and wondering how to either pay it or decrease the coverage. The city has used what is now a “cadillac” health care plan as a way for benefits to the city employees in lieu of higher pay, which would have cost the city much more each year.
How stupid is it for someone to be taxed for having a GREAT HEALTH PLAN. IMO in addition to the standard deduction they should allow people to fully deduct the cost of their healthcare, not charge them more tax.
