It's time to release the hurricane tracking sharks because we're officially in the dreaded "cone of uncertainty" with Tropical Storm Erika, which is expected to arrive in our neck of the woods by Monday morning.
Most models predict that Erika could be a hurricane by the time it reaches our general area next week.
According to most tracks and predictions, Erika's cone covers all of South Florida, as she approaches the Leeward Islands tonight. Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Antigua, Barbuda and Anguilla are all under a Tropical Storm Warning.
The latest advisory has Erika with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and tropical storm force winds extending at 105 miles out from the center.
And it begins...Joe Bastardi is predicting as much as a Cat 3 storm. Lots of warm water ahead if she can shake the shear and make it to the Bahamas.
Be on your toes Floridians!

Make sure you have plenty of Yuengling on hand...chilled, while you still have power...
From the approach angle, we may be in for a coastal runner from Miami to the Outer Banks, NC assuming it recurves, or maybe a hit around Savannah/Hilton Head if it doesn’t.
oh noes ......
GLOBULL WARMING!
I would love to see that thing hit SC as a tropical wave and dump a few inches of rain on the state over a 24 hour period. We are parched!
Yeah, I came up short on the copy/paste.
It’s been awhile. Back in the day when we got pounded every week for awhile, my Siamese was a kitten. It got pretty bad during Jeanne and we were in the downstairs bathroom. He decided it was a good time to “snip one off” on the tile floor. I just looked at him and shined the flashlight on his work, and he took a paw and swiped it under the dryer. Problem solved.
Keeping my eyes peeled in Jacksonville!

Just a little reminder of what hurricanes can do.
I was planning to go to the Keys on Sunday but I guess that’s off.
WOW, trees that grow plywood.
As the forecasts get updated, the center of the track keeps moving east of Florida. It seems the forecasters are trying to sensationalize this storm up til the point they can’t deny that it may miss the state altogether.
A week or so ago, these weather types were boasting no ‘cane has hit mainland for past 118 months. Looks like they’ll throw that our the window. But from past experience, I’d say landfall could be anywhere between Miami and the Carolinas. It should be noted, that many times, the Bahamas had acted to deflect ‘canes away from Florida.
