When the 19th Amendment went into effect 95 years ago today (8/26), The Nation was already looking ahead to the deeper implications of womens suffrage. What Will They Do With The Vote? asked a piece by Stella Crossley Daljord. The answer has implications for the state of American politics today, almost a century after the extension of suffrage to women.

Sheep.. Baaaaa baaa baaaaaaaaa baaa
It’s been downhill ever since.
No wonder they call it ‘suffrage’.
>>What Will They Do With The Vote?
Answer: vote for the pretty boy, the one who feels their pain, the one who promises to take care of them and love them longtime.
Three amendments created permanent Leftist voting blocs:
15th (blacks)
19th (wymyn)
26th (stupid college brats)
My wife has always said that was a mistake. Women’s wants are incompatible in the main with freedom and small government. Consciously they may desire thees things but they tend to vote for the pol who promises security for them and their children, just to be safe.
I am female and I don’t think that Women should be allowed to vote, I think land owners should be allowed to vote.
By the Way, I am a Land owner!
It appears to have been a major mistake. I've read that all Democrat Presidents since elected were a consequence of Women Voters.
This isn't the worst constitutional amendment, but it certainly seems to be in the "bad" category.
I was getting ready to post the identical thing. Totally agree on both points!
“only” land owners.
This is why a woman should NEVER be president, or even court judges. They are dominated by their feelings in ways that men just aren’t.
Women's Vote + Television. It all started with JFK.
You left out the 24th, which is the absolute worst of the bunch. It created a 21 trillion dollar welfare class, because that's how LBJ bribed people into supporting the Democrats.
I say as a matter of principle that allowing non-taxpayers to vote is utter folly. Again, 21 trillion dollars later, what good has come of it?
Women voting is a local and State matter.. when federal law TRUMPS state or local law... State Rights just got RAPED.. ABUSED.. SLAPPED.. BULLIED.. made worthless and an after thought..
AND ... States become VASSALS of central givernment..
preparing the way for Socialism... Communism, or Fasicism.. or WORSE..
Worse—> A federal leviathan invading every aspect of your lives.. making States mere provinces like in Canada..
Basically YOU AND YOU RIGHTS JUST GOT SCREWED...
However; some want to be screwed, their called democrats..
By the Way, I am a Land owner!
I think the right to vote should be contingent upon an interest in the Nation's success, and by payment of taxes.
I think the franchise should be restricted to those people who pay the costs of government.
I have no objection to women voters, provided they themselves are taxpayers and pay into the treasury.
I think among the class of taxpayers, common sense and good judgement constitutes the majority.
I can see some enterprising scammer buying several acres, subdividing it into ~1 sq. ft. plots, and selling them to people who want to vote.
I agree with the basic principle that the vote should be restricted to productive folks with skin in the game. It just needs to be thought through properly.
FDR?
Weve all heard about the womens suffrage movement and how women were finally given the right to vote with the approval of the 19th amendment. But in truth, many states had already granted women the right to votejust not all states. Women in Wyoming had been voting since 1890, with Colorado following close behind in 1893. The 19th amendment, approved in 1919, forced all states to follow what many were already doing.
That you, Mr. Vice President. ;)
I must confess that I don’t get your point.
sorry.
