Don’t look for Donald Trump to stand by her. He’s just fine with sodomite “marriage,” thinks it’s fabulous.

She is not forcing her religion on anyone. It is the government that is forcing the gay “religion” on people of faith. I’m sure that if it were issuing a drivers license or other type of license, this person would have no problem, as has been the case of photographers and bakers. It is only this one license - marriage. And why is it ok for religious people to claim conscientious objector status to not serve in the military and that is accepted, yet religious objection to gay marriage is not accepted.

I agree. This case is a lot different than forcing a private business to bake a cake for the wedding.

I’ll take a rain check on a final verdict, but economics usually “Trumps” other issues.

This is where Cruz can gain mileage but as I posted earlier the GOP political machine and its candidates (95 perecent of all Republicans) want you to support them, not go out to engage in civil disobedience.

This situation brings together the issues of religious liberty, federalism, states’ rights, the judiciary legislating from the bench, the First Amendment, and the Tenth Amendment. Strangely, it does not have much to do with illegal immigration, which we’ve been told lately is the only issue that matters.

If she was forced by law to segregate and discriminate against black people, would you still demand she do that?

If she said her religion prevented her from issuing marriage licenses to black people would you support her on that?

This is not an open and shut issue. On the one hand she does have the right to her religious beliefs. On the other hand she was elected to carry out the duties of the county clerk, one of which is to issue marriage licenses. If her religion prevents her from doing her job then I don't see how she can keep it. Anymore than the Muslim grocery clerk who refuses to ring up pork or liquor on religious grounds.

In KY it’s the other way around. Remember that KY is one of the few states left where a Democrat needs to present the appearance of being a Conservative to win the important state wide offices.

IT holds off-year elections. So various offices, including all statewide ones, are up this November.

The KY AG, who is a Democrat and could indict the clerk, is contorting himself into a pretzel trying to mnimize the political damage from this. His he indicts he spurs turnout by the “bitter clingers” and hands the election to Matt Bevins. If he fails to indict he runs the risk of having the Louisvill and Lexington Progressive crowd stay home.

This is going to make for a very interesting Fall for KY politics.

Bravo for her. Let the Black-Robed Oligarchs fester.

A pox on their house!

Ignore the story of what this woman is doing, Fox News Channel wants you to worry about Hillary’s emails per GOP HQ talking points for the day.

The Republican Establishment will demagogue gay marriage with speechmaking, but not promote civil disobedience of unjust court orders.

I’m not holding my breath waiting for any serious legal consequences over this email thing either, just great emotional noisemaking to keep her poll numbers and popularity down, plus psyche you up to support the GOPe nominee in 2016.

...if Caesar pays your salary then you do what he says or find another job.

I can appreciate the metaphor, but we don't have a literal Caesar in this country. We have elected officials. She is an elected official. As far as I can tell she IS doing her job as presumably there is presently no Kentucky Statute authorizing her to issue a marriage license to two sodomites.

Cordially,

There is a judge down there that said he would issue the license to the fags, but Nooooooooooooooo. Just their little war on Christianity that is so important to them.

This IS an open and shut issue.

She entered into the job in full faith and acknowledgment that she and the state were simpatico with the standards and expectations of her abilities and the State’s requirements.

Even if she were not a Christian, she has the right and obligation to refuse an illegal order.

As to you muslim example; if a muzzie were hired and allowed to refuse pork products, but later was told he MUST handle them or be fired, would he have a right to sue?

You bet your Mohamed he would.

Ok, can ANYONE show me a Kentucky Statute that would authorize her to issue a marriage license to two sodomites?

Here is the thing. The gay couple does not simply want a marriage license. If they did, they would go get one from another place.

They want her to betray her conscious. They want to break her. They want to win.

Make no mistake, this is a battle between God and Satan played out on a small scale.

If she resigns, they win.

The county clerk position is an elected official. Kim Davis (a Democrat I might add) won the election in 2014 with 53% of the vote.

The only way that gay couple will get a marriage license in her county is if the people of her county recall her or if she is impeached by the State House and removed by the State Senate. She is the only authority who can issue licenses in that county.

This isn’t about a license, this is about forcing someone to act against their conscious.

She has walked into the lion’s den. Like Daniel, may the Lord sustain her.

Basically, there is NO LAW compelling her to do so.

As far as I can tell, there is no Kentucky Statute that would even AUTHORIZE her to do so, much less compel her, even if she wanted to.

I'm sure his views are evolving.

Apparently they are. Sometimes Trump will say he's not in favor of same-sex marriage, but then he'll admit he's been to a number of gay weddings and simply say, "The Supreme Court ruled on it."
