I agree with her position on marriage, but don’t think that a govt official, acting in their official capacity, should be imposing their religious beliefs on others. If she doesn’t want to provide/process the licenses, why can’t she just have someone else in her office do it?

I agree with you. Choosing God over Caesar is a good thing, but if Caesar pays your salary then you do what he says or find another job.

I’d question whether this an “imposition of religious belief”. While the CC points to her religious moorings, is she not providing a public service according to the county charter and KY constitution?
What, specifically, are the terms used in the county charter?

Question: Can the SCOTUS amend an individual County charter without due process; by fiat?
If you agree, are we then no longer the united STATES of America?

If she was forced by law to segregate and discriminate against black people, would you still demand she do that?

If she lived in Nazi Germany, and was forced by law to send Jews to the ovens, would you suggest she do that or lose her job?

She is not forcing her religion on anyone. It is the government that is forcing the gay “religion” on people of faith. I’m sure that if it were issuing a drivers license or other type of license, this person would have no problem, as has been the case of photographers and bakers. It is only this one license - marriage. And why is it ok for religious people to claim conscientious objector status to not serve in the military and that is accepted, yet religious objection to gay marriage is not accepted.

I agree. This case is a lot different than forcing a private business to bake a cake for the wedding.

Guess it was ok for Germans to go ahead and ok Nazi genocide because they had an official cappacity. The Germans who were prosecuted said they were just following orders!

You misunderstand what is happening. This isn't about marriage licenses, it's not about law. This is about the direction of our culture and the future of this nation.

Christianity did not proceed from the United States; the United States proceeded from Christianity.

The 1st Amendment guarantees our freedom to exercise our religion, if that guarantee is no longer valid then upon what franchise does the United States stand?

If the voice of the people to not have a say in our culture then the gov is not the servant of the people but rather their masters. And that is the definition of tyranny.

Who does the government work for? Did the people of Kentucky vote to affirm Sodomite marriage? No. So the imposition is coming from the federal government, not this clerk. She's just living according to her conscience and within the legitimate laws established by God and confirmed by the people of Kentucky. You should read John Locke.

Because it is wrong. It is along the same lines as the Nazis requiring Jews to get tattoos. It is an immoral law, and it should not be obeyed.

The "I was just following Orders" excuse went out with the Nazis. Government officials should not be forced to administer immoral laws. We didn't accept that "But it's the LAW!!!!" argument from the Nazis, and we shouldn't accept it from anyone else either.

If she wont do something perverted, why doesn’t she let another government employee do something perverted...?????

Wait until cops are told to arrest you for being a Christian...would you want the cop to abide by that civil-”lawful” order?

Many people in Germany during late 1930s and early 1940s took the same position; either promote the evil or get out of the way. It was a minority that opposed the evil, those with a well-formed conscience that understood God's laws and self-evident truth come before the edicts of men.

In my opinion, the clerk is acting in opposition to a federally adopted and imposed religion.

The sodomites trying to force her to give them a marriage license could go to any other county clerk in the state of Kentucky. They are purposefully targeting her to try to make an example of her.
