In late July, about 3,800 miles away from Malaysia Airlines Flight 370's last known location, a piece of plane debris washed up. It was found on the coast of Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean and appeared to be part of a plane wing from a Boeing 777. MH370, which disappeared March 8, 2014 with 239 people on board, is a Boeing 777. Immediately, rumors began flying that the plane—or at least a piece of it—had been found. ...

The French have still not released the results of their investigation into the debris which turned up on Reunion Island.

This whole case is such a mystery. I do not believe that a plane can just disappear - they always know where it is.

Faked evidence to cover up the demise of the plane elsewhere? Very suspicious from day one and this sure doesn’t help.

Actually, the plane disappeared into a black hole, and is due to re-appear on 09/23.

Now who the .... would fake airplane evidence just to have the French - any given government agency or private - find it unconnected?

Come on people, enough with the conspiracies.

I agree that this is the most likely scenario at this point, but how, exactly, do you obtain a wing segment from a 777?

Is Boeing involved? WTF?

This is actually by far the most plausible of the conspiracies (outside the fact little evidence has shown up).

After all, it could be ChiComs, and they sure wouldn’t want to tell anyone - they never do when they screw up (much less do it purposefully).

Ever hear of incompetence? The French were not supposed to find the discrepancy.

I’m sticking to my theory since day one: the pilot commandeered the plane, demanded that the government release Anwar, and the government overreacted. Fearing a 9/11 repeat at the Petronas Towers, the PM ordered the Malaysian Air Force to shoot MH370 down over the Andaman Sea. They may have just disabled it and it flew on southward on autopilot for a time. But like you say, human action brought it down and no government dares to admit it for fear of the legal backlash.

As I asked, just WHO is going to make the effort to make a major airplane part look like a piece of another, and plant it on a remote island in an ocean? It sure as hell isn’t Joe Schmoe or your local gangster outfit. And if it’s as powerful as some government, the outfit as a whole should be competent enough to do it right, not muff it up for another gov to dismiss it quickly.

No 777 has ever crashed over the water except MH370. Where else could this 777 flaperon come from? Nowhere else, that’s where.

Idiot politicians don’t want to admit the obvious for some reason.

Again, of the couple 777 aircraft that have ever crashed none crashed over water, EVER!!

Who knows how it got there because there are so many theories out there, but to say “we are not sure what aircraft it is from” is just stupid.

Is the Malaysian govt then admitting that Malaysian airlines has been using counterfeit aircraft parts on their fleet? Because that’s the only answer they have left to ‘no serial numbers’ if they’re sticking with their story.

While the part in question could have been stolen from anywhere in Europe for use in this involved hoax, Emirates Airlines is closer and has every model of the 777. I wonder if a part or two turned up missing from inventory a few months back?

The people who send the planes out, and maintain contact with them. Planes are always “on the grid”, being watched and monitored as they cross borders and follow their routes. This is especially so in that area, going north from Malaysia to China, full of busy transport routes and multiple borders.
