Bet he won't make that mistake again. He's a smart guy.
We’ll see. You are probably right.
In my opinion, if he is as smart as his supporters say he is, he will:
1) Come up with a clever yet gracious way to handle “gotcha questions” - one that does not make him look like a petulant egoist.
2) Get at least a basic education in the history and politics of the Middle East.
I agree 100% that neither he nor any other candidate should be expected to know every name of every obscure bad guy (or organization) in the Middle East, but in this instance Mr. trump came across (at least to some of us who do not worship him) as ignorant and indignant.
I have made no secret of the fact that I do not trust Trump’s recent conservative conversion. However, I also have not made any wild pledges to “never vote for him no matter what”, nor have I made a habit of attacking him for the sake of attacking him. It’s only September of 2015. There is still a long way to go.
Hewitt really did him a favor. This was a non-important radio interview that few heard live. The MSM will beat it for a day or two. Trump is a quick learner. He will have a better answer when something like this comes up in a debate. All the candidates will have debate preppers trying to cram their heads with names, facts, figures, and issues. Trump is a bright guy, he will retain a lot of what he is prepped with (not a Rick Perry.) More importantly when he gets a question that he genuinely doesn’t know the answer to or have a good answer for he is much better and deflecting, ignoring, attacking, and putting forth the message he wants to focus on. Purist complain when politicians do that (”He didn’t answer the question!”) but the reality is that if you do it well then you win election. If you do it poorly you lose like GOP-E candidates.
