Americans are learning that more guns mean less crime
Memphis Commercial Appeal ^ | September 6, 2015 | John R Lott Jr

Americans are increasingly convinced that owning a gun makes them safer.

A new Rasmussen poll found that an overwhelming majority of Americans (68 percent) “feel safer in a neighborhood where guns are allowed.” And a series of polls by Gallup, the Pew Research Center, and ABC News and the Washington Post show similar results.

But it isn’t just what people say. They are clearly putting more stock in self-defense. Since 2007, the number of concealed-handgun permits has soared, from 4.6 million to 12.8 million. A new study by the Crime Prevention Research Center finds that a record 1.7 million permits have been issued in just the past year, a 15.4 percent increase.

Nationwide, 5.2 percent of adults have a permit.

But in five states, more than 10 percent of adults now have concealed-carry permits. In some counties around the United States, more than 1 in 5 adults are licensed to carry. In much of the country, someone among theatergoers or restaurant customers is likely to be legally carrying a permitted concealed handgun.

But even these numbers don’t do full justice to the change that has taken place. . . .

Darn! Now we’ll have to unleash even more mad killers!

He didn’t know how right he was.

Yep, the stricter Chicago’s gun laws get, the higher their gun crime rate climbs. Just reading some interesting updates from the Second City Cop blog.

The Founding Fathers took out their own trash.

Why can't we? Less unionized Blue & Brown costumed trash-haulers, less property taxes!

Yes, gives them ever-increasing control over the majority of citizens who are law-abiding, while also enabling them to promote chaos to use as the excuse through the criminal acts of those who will never abide by gun laws (ha). Anarcho-tyranny.

Violent crime goes down when the likelihood of victims shooting back goes up.

This is always bad news for the Democrat Regressive Party. They thrive on runaway poverty, which they create, and on spiraling crime rates, so that their candidates for election can condemn the rate of crime in order to pass themselves off as tough on crime.

Tough on crime and tough on poverty, except when it comes to secretly helping to create both.

Those concealed carry permit numbers don’t even take into account those states where a CCW permit is not required.
I’m betting that’s a really low ball number.

“Those concealed carry permit numbers don’t even take into account those states where a CCW permit is not required.”

And you can see by what’s happening in places like Chicago, that the fact that you are not legally able to “carry” doesn’t appear to be much of a deterrent. And as personal assaults increase, you can bet that more law-abiding folks will want to protect themselves irrespective of any local laws to the contrary.
