A McLennan County investigator has obtained a search warrant to extract a bullet from the arm of a biker killed last week in a wreck who was wounded in the deadly May 17 Twin Peaks shootout but left Waco before he was identified or arrested.
The warrant, issued by 19th State District Judge Ralph Strother, is for a bullet in the arm of James Kenneth Spaz Anderson, 53, of Henderson, a member of the Bandidos. He was killed Sept. 3 when his motorcycle struck one or more deer on a highway in northwestern Nebraska.
Authorities want the bullet in Andersons upper left arm to compare it to weapons seized after nine bikers were killed and 20 were wounded at a meeting of bikers at the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco.
The warrant was obtained Tuesday by Jason Chambers, an investigator in the McLennan County District Attorneys Office.
(Chambers) believes that an analysis of the projectile in (Andersons) upper left arm will be beneficial in the investigation and may more accurately identify the weapon used against him during the incident, according to an affidavit for the search warrant.
The bullet will be submitted to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which is conducting the forensic analysis of weapons, bullets, bullet fragments and casings recovered at the scene, court records show.
Prosecutor Michael Jarrett declined comment on the search warrant Wednesday. Chambers did not return phone calls seeking comment.
Andersons body was taken to Crawford-Crin Funeral Home in Henderson, where the warrant is expected to be served.
Pat Murphy, Crawford-Crin Funeral Home director, said Wednesday he was unaware that a warrant had been issued and had not been contacted by McLennan County authorities. He declined additional comment.
According to the affidavit, Lanie Smith, a Longview police officer, received information that Anderson had been shot May 17 at Twin Peaks.
The officer found him recuperating from his wound at a home on County Road 2121 near Longview. Anderson reportedly admitted to Smith that he was shot in the left arm but managed to flee Waco without being identified by police or arrested.
The affidavit does not say when Smith spoke to Anderson. Smith did not return phone messages Wednesday.
Authorities rounded up about 235 bikers after the shootout, jailing 177 on identical engaging in organized criminal activity warrants. None of the bikers remain jailed in McLennan County, and none of the cases has been presented to a grand jury.
Nebraska death
According to published reports, the Nebraska State Patrol reported that Anderson was riding with a group of bikers about 6 a.m. Sept. 3 when he hit at least one deer on U.S. Highway 385 about three miles south of Chadron, Nebraska.
Anderson and the other bikers were heading north when he and two other riders hit deer that had wandered into the roadway, authorities reported.
Richard Smith, 39, of Longview, was treated for minor injuries at Chadron Community Hospital, according to a report in the Chadron Record.
Shane Miles, 43, of Big Spring, was able to stop safely after hitting a deer, according to reports.
Anderson was an electrician at Flanders Electric Motor Services in Henderson, which manufactures industrial motors and generators.
A spokeswoman for the company declined comment about Anderson on Wednesday.
Services for Anderson are set for Saturday at the Rusk County Youth Expo Center in Henderson.
An obituary from the funeral home says he was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Bar None Cowboy Church.
Interesting - I don’t recall hearing that any of the bikers had escaped the scene in Waco.
Interesting development. To bad the BATF will have an “examination’ of the bullet they are the clown car of federal LEO’s. but of course we can’t even trust the FBI crime lab anymore.

There is a WHOLE lot that has not been heard or seen. Doncha know?
I’ve hit a deer with a motorcycle before
It seriously did some damage.
"Everything is broken"
I trust the autopsies more than ballistics. To easy to phony up things at the BATF. I still remember that bullet the Secret Service “found” on Connally’s stretcher.
“bikers had escaped the scene in Waco”.
A Cossack President escaped, see “First Richie then Diesel then Dog.” Long interview, read the entire article, Wash Post, also posted on Conservative Tree House.
Probably there were a number who were able to leave the scene in the chaos.
Oddly I believe the Kennedy “Miracle bullet” story. There is a very plausible explanation. I’ve been shooting stuff all my life and had several times when bullets went through more than one animal.
That article includes this:
The Cossack, president of a North Texas chapter of the motorcycle gang, asked not to be identified because he is now in hiding and said he fears for his life. ...Without more evidence, I'm skeptical that this person was president of a North Texas chapter of the Cossacks. That nomenclature might have been used to disguise his true identity, which would be wise if he was indeed in hiding. There aren't very many presidents of North Texas chapters of Cossacks, and rounding them up for interrogation/investigation would be easy. Then, accusing them and arresting them, as was done with all other members of Cossacks, Bandidos and supporting clubs who were present during, would be indicated. President of a Cossacks chapter, much more so than members of clubs that paid protection money to the Bandidos."I took off," the Cossack rider said. "I got out of there. I didn't have a weapon. I couldn't fight anybody."
Claiming to be a 1% club president falsely is one industrial strength stupid thing to do. But there are idiots everywhere these days.
I am also curious why the bullet was left in. I know several VN vets that were wounded in the arm and all of their bullets were removed. Guess it was the must be reported thing.
That depends on the circumstances of making the claim. This person isn't identified. It's just some anonymous claim.
I'm not saying it isn't true, just explaining why I'm skeptical. If I was potentially on the hook for arrest and incarceration, I'd deliberately misidentify myself to the press. Probably wouldn't claim to be president of a MC, but I'd give misleading identifying information.
Have you ever had a bullet pass through any animal, hitting bone, and look like that one? Oswald was being watched closely. Fer crying out loud, the guy was passing out pro Fidel literature in New Orleans right in front of the FBI building. I have no doubt when the observed him ordering a rifle by mail they made sure they had half a dozen bullets fired into gelatin from that rifle before it ever reached him. Call me tinfoil or whatever. Look at that bullet.
Headline suggests we have an armed deer problem — beer summit pending.
The first deer-beer summit.
with apology for obscure reference. from another Waco thread
Blessings!
Had a deer on the side of the interstate stop, and then stick his head out so that it caught the big side-mirror on my pickup. Left antler scratches down the side
Another time, a deer bounded out as I went past in a sedan and I thought I’d missed him, but then heard a thump. He had run into the rear quarter panel.
For every direct hit, there must be dozens of close calls. No wonder insurance companies want state DNRs to reduce the nuisance deer population.
No doubt it was a herd were government deerdroids.
