General rips military leaders: 'They should put their stars on the table and be prepared to resign'

Rules of engagement that risk the lives of U.S. forces and harsh punishments over questionable charges have America’s elite Green Berets fuming at the Obama administration, and the former commander of all Green Berets says it’s just the latest symptoms of a military deliberately weakened by this administration and military officials more concerned about advancement than the good of their forces and their nation.

The litany of Green Beret frustration was detailed this week by the Washington Times. The piece detailed several questionable punishments for elite service members over incidents that never resulted in formal charges.

Army Secretary John McHugh stripped Maj. Matt Golsteyn of a Silver Star for killing a Taliban bomb maker who took many U.S. lives. McHugh contends there is probable cause to believe Golsteyn committed murder, even though Golsteyn was cleared by the military.

Lt. Col. Jason Amerine shared his concerns about a flawed hostage rescue program with Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif. When the FBI looked into it, officials there reported Amerine to the Army, which opened a criminal investigation on Amerine because it suspected he transmitted classified information. No evidence was ever found to support such a charge.

The most highly publicized case in recent weeks centers on Sgt. Charles Martland, who is being expelled from the Army for roughing up an Afghan local police commander after a mother and son told troops the police official raped the 12-year-old boy and assaulted the mother.

The Times also quotes former Green Beret Danny Quinn, who quit the military because of how politicians and bureaucrats were punishing troops and tying their hands

This is an outstanding read. Well worth reading to the end. Something most of us on FR have known for years.

Snip:

“Boykin said he is concerned for the future of the military and the United States. He is especially worried that the absence of leadership among the highest-ranking officers is leaving young service members with no one worth emulating.”

McHugh has more "blood on his hands" for this than 0bama. He is responsible to support the Army.

So ... Army Secretary McHugh .... how big is yours?

Clinton did much of the same. I remember being ordered to publicly apologize to the man who had been making obscene phone calls to my wife for 6 months.

Many of the top generals have already retired rather than follow the Obama vision of the military. He is seeding the top ranks with people who support him.

I have seen this happen on a smaller scale at universities.

Prior to my retirement in 2013 I noticed that most officers (Major and above) seemed more concerned about political correctness than fighting a war. We senior NCO’s were different though. Most of the others that I spoke to said they would not support unconstitutional orders.

“..leaving young service members with no one worth emulating.”

That is the deepest cut of all.
When any group loses its ablest leaders, it withers and loses all vitality.

George Patton emulated “Black” Jack Pershing.
Countless others took inspiration from Patton. They in turn influenced other young officers.

Who do our young service members have to influence them?
A group of self absorbed boot lickers who will sell out their own families for advancement?

I hope some good officers hunker down and wait out the storm.
They will have to rebuild our military.

Unfortunately, this same pestilence is afflicting all the services, as the independent-minded general and flag officers have been systematically purged from the military by Obama.

I have heard identical complaints from company-grade and field-grade officers who have decided to leave a military career over dangerous and ill-advised rules of engagement and scapegoating of military personnel for the sake of PC policies handed down by the White House and endorsed by the top brass.

If we elect a pro-Constitutional, pro-national security, pro-military president (boy it’s nice to be able to type that word again), won’t he be able to recall all the good guys?

FWIW, there are some Obama toady perfumed princes that need to go, but there are a lot of good upper level military leaders who are fighting a tough rear guard battle to limit the destruction Obama is trying to do to the military.

They have to go along because Obama is the Commander in Chief and they cannot disobey a direct order, but they do every thing in their power to limit the damage.

The know that if they go, Obama will replace them with someone fully loyal to Obama and his agenda, so they keep their mouths shut try to do their best.

There are fewer around because many have been replaced by Obama toadies for Obama’s second term.

It was the same with the officers under Clinton

Things could be a lot worse if it were not for these guys.

LBJ, Carter, Clinton, obamaramatang. One set rules of engagement designed to kill American servicemen, the other three actively set policies to demoralize, defund, decimate and denigrate the armed forces. As a matter of fact I think you have to go back to Truman for a Democrat president that was at least had respect for the armed forces.

Leaving aside the question of whether he “murdered” someone, how do you stripe a soldier of honors and awards he legitimately earned before that “crime” took place.

There was a Ranger who earned a Silver Star who his actions during the Battle of Mogadishu who was later convicted of child molestation. They didn’t take his Silver Star away from him

The military was defeated by Bill Clinton’s lies.

When the Joint Chiefs didn’t call a press conference and all resign when Clinton was impeached for lying, it was all over.

The Commander In Chief was impeached and proven to be a liar and the Joint Chiefs went along with it.

They were afraid the Democrats would cut the Defense budget.

Well, they cut the Defense budget anyway.

The admirals and generals sold their souls a long time ago. And they never had any brains to sell.

A recall probably would never happen, but there are still a lot of good junior officers and really good noncoms available.
The thing that needs to be done; is to FIRE all the Obastard/Obastard CRONY promotions and appointments, gut and destroy the Obastard executive orders to the military, gut and destroy the Congressional and Court orders to the military, wipe out and get rid of all the social engineering orders and proposals.
The US Military is NOT A DEMOCRACY and it is NOT A SOCIAL ENGINEERING EXPERIMENT.
The US Military is designed for, and their mission is to KILL THE ENEMIES OF THE UNITED STATES, in short to “BREAK THINGS AN KILL PEOPLE”.
Start promoting on COMBAT PROFICIENCY RECORD, NOT POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.
Get rid of all the LGBT, FEMINIST, (or what ever the queer alphabet soup) classes at our Military Academies and War Colleges and start to teach the art of war again.
When I was in the Corps, we considered ourselves WARRIORS, not babysitters for queers and lesbians.
