You must be referring to the rights and privileges that have been abridged already by the US government.

I wish I could tell you that there has been a government somewhere at some time that didn't abuse authority. In math, I think they call that group an empty set.

I don't want to possess the level of political power that can cause too much trouble to anyone. I'm happy to pursue private interests.

And, I don't trust the kind of people who want to possess a lot of political power. It's hard to find anyone to trust these days, but I think it's probably always been that way.

You are very much like Thomas Jefferson. He is one of my favorite Founders. You are dead-on right, of course. The trick is to keep the government out of your own affairs, which is best done by helping to keep it out of everyone’s affairs.
