China 'extremely concerned' by proposed U.S. challenge to claims

BEIJING (Reuters) - China said on Friday it was "extremely concerned" about a suggestion from a top U.S. commander that U.S. ships and aircraft should challenge China's claims in the South China Sea by patrolling close to artificial islands it has built.

China's increasingly assertive action to back up its sovereignty claims in the South China Sea have included land reclamation and the construction of ports and air facilities on several reefs in the Spratly Islands.

The work has rattled China's neighbors, in particular U.S. ally the Philippines, and raised concern in the United States.

China says it has irrefutable sovereignty over the Spratly Islands and no hostile intent.

Admiral Harry Harris, the commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific, told a Senate hearing on Thursday that China's building of three airfields on small islands and their further militarization was of "great concern militarily" and posed a threat to all countries in the region.

Let me testify, the Admirals would love to patrol back and forth between two or three of those islands, radiating fire control and feigning low-level strike missions.

For about 5 days.

And, they would love to do it 3 times per year.

But Obama won't let them.

China has Trillions of foreign exchange surplus. We have Trillions in debt and yearly trade deficits. Historical super powers met their demise with foreign military adventures with bankrupt treasuries.

Learn from history or be doomed to repeat it.

Every war in history was fought (drum roll please)... for financial reasons. Even the muslims are very protective of their drug turf. They claim it’s for allah, but it’s really for the money derived from drugs, guns and prostitution. Not a big secret amongst those in the know.

One of the biggest lies about northern Ireland and the fighting between catholic vs prostestant groups is that it was over religious disputes when in fact it was over who controlled the narcotics and weapons trafficking into northern Ireland.

The Spratly islands have been an issue for decades.

I remember it from the 90s.

I don’t blame the People’s Republic of China for behaving the way they do. They behave in a very predictable nationalistic way. Unfortunately, we don’t, because we are compromised by a communist cell.

Desolate rocks surrounded by resource rich territorial waters.

But are they, really? Resource-rich, that is?

If there was oil there, wouldn't the oil-hungry Chinese be drilling like woodpeckers in what is a very shallow sea?
