Scott Walker implodes, Carly Fiorina soars in new CNN poll
MSNBC ^ | 9/20/15 | Benjy Sarlin

The first major national poll since the second GOP debate finds Carly Fiorina surging into a second place and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s campaign in total collapse.

The survey by CNN of 444 registered Republican voters put Donald Trump in first place with 24% support, a drop of 8 points since their last poll, and Fiorina in second place with 15%. Fiorina earned plaudits on the right for her debate performance, which included multiple clashes with Trump, although fact checkers pointed out that she vividly cited footage from a hidden camera video of Planned Parenthood that does not appear to exist. 52% of respondents said Fiorina was the winner of the debate while 31% said Trump lost.

Dr. Ben Carson, who had surged into second place in many polls after the first debate in August, stood in third at 14%. Sen. Marco Rubio leapt from single digits to fourth place with 11% of the vote, followed by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 9%, Sen. Ted Cruz and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at 6%, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul at 4%, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 3%, Ohio Gov. John Kasich at 2%, and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum at 1%.

Missing from the list was Walker, who earned less than half a percentage point support, putting the former frontrunner in the same category as long shots like Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, and former New York Gov. George Pataki.

Walker started the race strong early this year and regularly led polls of Iowa through July, where he’s still hoping to jumpstart a comeback with a strong performance in the state’s caucuses. A combination of

Seriously, Scott Walker CANNOT be at zero. That's one reason I don't take stock in these polls.

Another; of the 450 respondents (Pubs &Indies), 40% said they "never heard of" or "have no opinion" about Walker; 41 % Kasich; 29% Carly; 25% Carson.

These people can't find their polling booths--- don't see why their opinion should be valued as part of a current status analysis of the race.

Sorry Scott, I was one of your early supporters and I still admire and respect you. But you did not live up to your promise to “Go Big Go Bold.”

Is the RNC switching from Jebbie to Carly?

Interesting but... Look at the source - CNN. Anything, and I mean literally anything from CNN should be regarded with extreme skepticism - at best.

No 2 doesn't matter at present. They tried to scare us with the Trump Carson stat...within the margin of error.

The more we learn about Carson, the more we diss him...nice guy...wrong field. Same with Carly..."beautiful" lady...cough, cough...wrong field.

Much as I like Walker - he’s been my top choice - it’s sounding like it’s time for him to pack it in. I guess quantifiable success and an ability to convincingly beat democrats don’t cut it these days. Ah, well.

Going 3 different directions on Anchor Babies and then saying that we need a wall on the Canadian border (but not on the Mexican border) made it OBVIOUS that Walker is just a puppet controlled by big money and will ONLY say whatever they permit, and will make a fool of himself trying to recover from once in a while saying something that is not permitted.

Although Walker’s collapse is due to primarily to Walker, the big money people behind him (pulling the strings) didn’t do him (or themselves) any favors by trying to reel him back in each time after he “went out of line” in their twisted view of the world.

This poll has a desire to create a narrative. The poll after debate 1 also had Trump at 24. A poll between the debates had trump at 36. I do not believe it is that volatile. Compatible NBC polls went from 22 to 29, with nothing in between... with Fiorina showing a gain. FNSunday had the Trump bash squad going after the Moslem stuff, even though they were going hard on Fiorina on the Iran dealings. She was dancing the I didn’t know dance, but under the circumstances it came off as Clintonesque.

The Media and the GOPe are. At least until the Dalmatians - Fur Coat - Cruella DeVille jokes get going.

Then it will be 24/7 Democrat TV ads: Suicidal Dad sitting at the bare kitchen table with his worried wife and two forlorn children wondering how they can pay the rent this month.

“HP provided me and my family with a good job. Until Carly Fiorina came along. Carly made millions. I got shown the door. If you like your job you can keep it. IF you vote for Hillary/Bernie/Joe/The Squaw that is.”

By the time this primary season is over, all the Rep candidates will be firmly fixed in LIV minds as stupid, greedy, capitalistic ogres bent on nuking the world, jailing gays, and enslaving black and brown people from sea to shining sea.

Same as it ever was.

Scott Walker really disappointed me. I had high hopes for him a year ago for 2016 and I had either him or Ted Cruz pegged to get the nomination this time around.

But Walker has run one of the absolute worst and inept presidential campaigns I've ever seen. No passion. No fire in the belly. Nothing. Even on social media, he comes across like a cross between Richie Cunningham and Gomer Pyle. Just embarrassing.

Walker is still relatively young but I think his political career is toast - maybe even in Wisconsin as well.

Go to RCP and look at all the polls. The CNN poll is out of whack when it comes to Fiorina.

But even the CNN poll reinforces the fact that the career politicians are dead in the water. None of them are moving up. The polls look upside down from what you would expect.

The anti-establishment movement has legs. It looks like the original Tea Party movement as it crosses party lines.

“Carly...”beautiful” lady...cough, cough...wrong field”

Exactly. Target or JC Penneys could use someone like Carly to (ahem) put them out of their misery/administer the coup de grace.
Fiona has as much business running for president as drunk, ill & psychotic Hillary or muslim, homosexual & Marxist Obama.

Carly supported the DREAM act in her fail at the US senate and crows about her relationship with Jesse Jackazz. And who knows what else. She’s GOP establishment.

But two American success stories like Ted Cruz and Don Trump aren’t good enough? Give me a break ...

I love Walker also. The problem is he just isn’t fast enough on his feet to keep up with the national media interchange.

For those of you that do not know him from Wisconsin, his main message that worked here (and he delivered on once in office) was a more specific problem to Wisconsin where the govt. unions had taken over day to day operation of the State for their own interests.

Walker worked that important (but local angle) for over a decade. It allowed him to create solutions and rehearse them enough to explain them well. But the national jetstream of issues is too fast moving. Walker couldn’t keep up.

The ironic part is that a critical component of Walker’s support was from private sector manufacturing workers either laid off or who had their jobs downgraded due to foreign competition over the years. These folks didn’t like being forced to pay taxes over and over again to support much better paid WI State govt. workers. These are precisely the people impacted by low paying foreign workers flooding the US.

But Walker’s donors were big GOPe business interests so he couldn’t use Trump’s message.

The Cheap Labor Express still expects the RNC to deliver the amnesty candidate that they paid for.

Since ¡Yeb! is flaming out, they’d like you to go for one of their other amnesty candidates.

If you want to keep your country you have three choices, Cruz, Santorum or Trump.

In regard to Fiorina... someone needs to post BOTH the “Bull$hit Meter” animation and the “I Smell Bull$hit” graphic ASAP. Thank you!

No. Jeb is still their guy. They found a skirt for him to hide behind while they try to take out Trump.

The latter is a serious concern. Wisconsin going completely red would have been a huge asset. Now it's back in play.
