Police are looking for several men who severely beat a highly-respected army captain and Purple Heart recipient outside a restaurant on the Country Club Plaza.
Relatives say the 37-year-old Purple Heart recipient is lucky he survived the attack that happened late Friday night outside the Zocalo Mexican Restaurant.
"He’s confused. He's angry. He doesn't understand. He doesn't know why this happened," said the victim’s cousin, who asked to remain anonymous. “It's very hard for him but all he can say is ‘I’m lucky to be here.’"
He says that night his cousin and two friends from Fort Leavenworth went to the restaurant for drinks.
Family members say while inside the restaurant the victim apparently bumped into a man he didn't know. A man, FOX 4 is told, restaurant managers asked to leave after he became hostile.
"Some words were exchanged. My cousin tried to defuse the situation and tried to walk away," said the family member of the victim.
Friends say the army captain apologized, but minutes later witnesses say when the soldier stepped outside where at least eight other guys repeatedly kicked him, punched him and knocked him unconscious.
"They were repeatedly kicking and punching him, there's no other intent but to kill. It's horrible," recalled the victim's brother.
Relatives say the victim suffered multiple facial fractures, massive swelling and his nose had to be reconstructed.
"It really is a miracle that my brother survived that attack. He now has more than two dozen metal plates in his face and forehead and I have no doubt he could've died and they didn't care," added the army captain's brother.
Police say after the violent crime all of the attackers hopped into a white vehicle and sped off.

Obama/Holder has told them REPEATEDLY that they have their back.
When I went to clubs in NYC 20ish years ago, if there was any hint of trouble you left with as many paisans as possible.
One time there was just four of us and about five black guys fighting. One of the black kids ran away and in the blink of an eye there were maybe 15 more on us.
Like cockroaches. We got in as many punches as we could and for some reason, they weren’t extra feral that night and left after giving us black eyes and bruises.
Yet, no description of the perps in the article. Wonder why? /S

Last Month I Ate down in the plaza for the first time in my life, a Japanese Restaurant, for a friend's 21st Birthday. And we all made sure we walked back to our cars in groups.....

I had an insane friend who thought it was fun to tap black guys with her car in the projects. Sometimes 3 or 4. They must have thought he was insane because they never did anything about it.
Alot of race fights in high school then between Italians and blacks and hispanic.
Now with 30 years of forced integration there are less. I just hope the white kids are having an effect on the black and not vice versa.

Both the Plaza and Westport have had a border area pressure working on them since the sixties. It has been a media thing at certain times but it has always been there.
There used to fights outside the bowling alley (now gone) in the late fifties and early sixties.

One of the men with the primary aggressor had an open tab at the bar and had left his debit card behind. Police have that person’s name, but that still hasn’t led to any arrests.
“It should be noted that all the involved parties were heavily intoxicated,” according to the police report.

Yes, we do from other sources. But, the media are very reluctant to identify the perps when they are Black, even when they are still at large as is the case here. The media and the police are pretending that this isn't happening. The merchants are afraid that this behavior will destroy all the businesses in the Plaza as has happened elsewhere in the city.
Fortunately he wasn’t armed, because if he had shot one or more of these unarmed youths, he’d really be in trouble now./sarc
What a horrible, evil thing to do to this brave man.
