The real effing joke is I made the same claim earlier this year, offering a myriad of reasons why someone isn’t working but, that the “Labor Participation Rate” is at its lowest in 40 years!
That shouldn’t be true, in a growing economy.
Yep, the labor participation is awful....but a lot of folks not working are retired, living off investments, ss, etc. The 5% is absurd from the government, but the 42% is based on a misunderstanding of what labor participation rate means.
