Hampton, Overly debate hot button issues in second lt. governor debate

... The topic turned to Hampton’s statements on early childhood education during the debate, as Hampton was asked about her comments she made calling federal early childhood education program Head Start a way “to get the kids at an even earlier age and just start the indoctrination sooner.”

...

On Monday, a visibly perspiring Hampton, told the panel at WAVE 3, “…all we ask is that Head Start funds be evaluated objectively so we can see if they are being used properly, and effectively and efficiently,”

“And, there’s no point spending those funds if we’re not seeing results,” Hampton said, pointing to math and reading proficiency scores in Kentucky. ...

While no public funding for abortions is allowed in Kentucky, Bevin has called on Federal Title X dollars to be halted from making their way to Planned Parenthood in the state — which would amount to about $331,300 in federal Title X family planning funds, according to figures provided by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

The cabinet does not contract with Planned Parenthood, but local health departments can either provide Title X family planning services directly or subcontract with Planned Parenthood, rural health clinics or federally qualified health centers, cabinet spokeswoman Jill Midkiff said in an email to Pure Politics in August.

On Monday, Overly was asked about the issue, and said that she and Conway are “committed” that no public dollars should be provided to cover the cost of abortions.

Hampton went a step further, following in Bevin’s footsteps in calling for the end of funding of Planned Parenthood in Kentucky, and perhaps ending all entitlements to private businesses.

“There is no reason that public funds should be used for a private corporation,” Hampton said. “The services that Planned Parenthood provides are available at other clinics.”

In other words, they will allow the taxpayer dollars to continue to flow to Planned Parenthood.

Teachers, parents alike can tell you access to early childhood learning programs travel with a student throughout their life and are beneficial.

The main benefit is that the mothers get to stay home and watch TV without being interrupted by their kids.

Have no idea of who Hampton is. Putting the state’s abbreviation in parentheses after the title would be a good idea.

Cat, what do you make of the RGA not funding Bevin anymore?

Much ado about nothing? The dhimmis are trying to make hay of it.

I saw that coming, unfortunately http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3334431/posts#5 , as Bevin was piddling around and trying to piggy back entirely on their spending - the RGA has spent $3,000,000 to his spending $200,000. More than one media report indicates they pulled out until he shows he is serious about running his own media campaign and are tired of carrying all of his water for him. He spent $2.5 million in the primary and virtually nothing for the general election. The race is extraordinarily winnable for him and he is allowing Conway to just keep on running ads unanswered except for the RGA stepping in and counter attacking, but they probably won’t be back unless he makes a significant media buy and the time should be purchased through the day of the election so it will be on record, then they might come back. Another $2.5 million would be a full media campaign through election day for all media markets.

So you’re telling me that Bevin, the successful businessman that wants Washington off our backs, is relying almost exclusively on the Republican Governors Association to pay for his campaign because he blew his wad in the primary? If he can’t raise money and spend it appropriately, what the heck does he bring to the race?

Bevin’s disciplined primary campaign made me think that I had misjudged him somewhat due to his disastrous 2012 Senate primary campaign, but maybe I was right all along.

I hope that Bevin turns things around over the next four weeks, because we can’t afford a liberal shyster such as Conway in the KY governorship.

What’s worse is that if Bevin loses, we’re stuck with McConnell until his term expires. I absolutely support his being removed from leadership and resigning outright at this point, but not until Bevin can appoint his successor (hopefully Jenean Hampton).

I don’t think McConnell is gonna resign because freepers are calling for it. Boehnher was facing the pressure of a coup attempt.

But yes, I was just arguing with some mouthbreather who said “Let Basheer appoint a democrat, what difference would it make?”.

Anyway new poll, first I’ve seen in a while, 42%-37% Conway leads. This will be a close race, Bevin needs to step it up.
