Well, minus communism, the Russians proved to be less than impressive conquerors. And their record in Islamic states, even with communism, isn’t to be recommended. They will have every bit the same problems there we did, and while they may be more ruthless, the Russian culture is fundamentally Christian and incompatible with the Islamic terror states. In short, there won’t be a marriage, and date night probably isn’t going to last long.
Let us refresh ourselves when Putin said "don't try and export ideology". If their mission is to simply solidify a few key strategic points to allow Iran to launch Shia sponsored groups against SA, then Russia won't waste time & resources on peripheral issues.
