The lieutenant governor of Tennessee is encouraging his “fellow Christians” to go out and get handgun permits in the wake of the Oregon college shooting.
Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey posted a message to Facebook saying how disturbed he was by reports that the gunman asked people if they were Christian and then, if they answered affirmatively, shot them in the head.
Ramsey said of the spike in mass shootings, “Whether the perpetrators are motivated by aggressive secularism, jihadist extremism or racial supremacy, their targets remain the same: Christians and defenders of the West.”
He then extended this bit of advice to his fellow Christians:
While this is not the time for widespread panic, it is a time to prepare. I would encourage my fellow Christians who are serious about their faith to think about getting a handgun carry permit. I have always believed that it is better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.
“Our enemies are armed,” he added. “We must do likewise.”
So you need a permit to own a gun in Tennessee...Davy Crockett’s home state??? Mr Lt Governor needs to address that as well.
Too bad he didn’t encourage it starting with his campaign-—maybe this shooting could have been prevented.
Glad he’s on to it now, tho.
You need a license to carry concealed - you need the same “permit” to purchase a handgun in Tennessee as in the other 49 states: the background check.

Gun permits and guns don’t do much good if you have gun free zones, aka criminal free fire zones. The only ones that don’t have guns in these areas are the law abiding victims.
We don’t need a permit to own or buy a handgun. We only need the permit to carry in public (off our property).
I’m just not going to set foot in any Mass Murder Zones.
Per the NRA First Freedom magazine regarding Ted Nugent comment; the only firearms permit I need is the Second Amendment.

I live in the southwest. Yeah,a cursory background check is required to purchase from a dealer. But there is no other permit required except concealed carry.
