When I moved to the West coast, I became friends with the son of Japanese immigrants. His name is Ken. Brothers are Michael, Steve, and Bill, sister’s name is Jean. All of his friends that are of Japanese ancestry have the first name of Christian saints, none have Japanese first names. Even the parents go by Western monikers, i.e. Fusao is “Tony”, Masao is “Mike”, and Takashi is “Ted”.
Never read any hand wringing, agonized article, about what kind of names they should give their children.
Actually, Ken is also a male name in Japanese too ;-)
