BEIRUT, Lebanon — Insurgent commanders say that since Russia began air attacks in support of the Syrian government, they are receiving for the first time bountiful supplies of powerful American-made antitank missiles.
With the enhanced insurgent firepower and with Russia steadily raising the number of airstrikes against the government’s opponents, the Syrian conflict is edging closer to an all-out proxy war between the United States and Russia.
The increased levels of support have raised morale on both sides of the conflict, broadening war aims and hardening political positions, making a diplomatic settlement all the more unlikely.
The American-made TOW antitank missiles began arriving in the region in 2013, through a covert program run by the United States, Saudi Arabia and other allies to help certain C.I.A.-vetted insurgent groups battle the Syrian government.

Now, that could get to be too interesting. What a mess; Russia supporting Assad, the US supporting Syrian rebels, the US and Russia both claiming to fight Islamic State, Islamic State fighting most everyone, and assorted rebels of flexible loyalty.

This has been a proxy war with Russia since the Obama regime started running weapons to the Syrian “rebels” (Al Qaeda, AKA ISIS)) through Benghazi.
Had you performed your journalistic duties, you would not be writing an article like this and sounding surprised.
Also don’t forget, NYT, that the Nobel Peace Prize-winning “messiah” president you droolingly endorsed is rattling the saber against China outside the Spratly Islands.
True to Democratic Party/Central Banking form, they borrow and spend the economy into a depression and then start a war to wipe out all that debt and get lots of good, patriotic American boys killed, whipping them up into a patriotic “do it for Mom” frenzy.
Instead of a war with China and Russia, we should take all the banksters and financialists on Wall Street and all the leftist DNC party members and send them to work in a labor camp in the neo USSR and China.
