While Toyotas own figures show a tripling of sales of the Hilux in Iraq during 2013, US authorities are also investigating other sources from which the cars could have originated, as part of a broader effort to prevent Western-made goods from ending up in the hands of the terror group.
But the US has, in fact, knowingly exported Toyotas that could now potentially be in the terrorist groups fleet. In April 2014, a report published by Public Radio International announced that US State Department aid sent to Syrian rebels included 43 Toyota trucks.
At the time, the Hiluxes were meant to support the Free Syrian Army, serving as force enablers, with the ability to house crew-served machine guns or other types of military equipment, Oubai Shahbander, a Washington-based advisor to the Syrian National Coalition, told Public Radio International. Its unclear where the vehicles are now.
In general, exporting cars from the US is an easier process than most think. Used cars are often sold in auction fashion, meaning the highest bidder wins. Within as little as two transactions, IS could have trucks from the US in their possession.
For example, a Texas plumbers truck made headlines last year when it appeared in an IS video. The plumber lost track of his truck after he sold it to a used car dealer. But the companys name and phone number painted on the side of the truck made it easily identifiable when it appeared in the video, carrying gun-wielding extremists.
Furthermore, Toyotas Mr. Lewis admitted its impossible for the company to track vehicles bought and resold by middlemen.

Al Nusra = Al-Qaeda = FSA (Free Syrian Army)
I did a Google search of “al nursa” and look at the images that comes up. This is who the State Department calls the Free Syrian Army. Just look at the photos in the link below. Does that look like “freedom fighters, Christian lovers, Womens Rights, etc...” or does that look like Al-Qaeda to you?
Hillary’s State Department gave them via “non lethal aid” loopholes.
Not as worried about Toyotas as I am Abrams Tanks. Bradleys. Up-armored Humbles, etc.
Thanks!
I’m glad it’s being covered.
All we have to do is figure out is selling is selling these trucks.
We can start at Toyota and follow it down.
We gave ISIS their trucks.
Isis captured 2,300 Humvee armoured vehicles from Iraqi forces in Mosul
How could this happen? We only have a suspect POTUS and are importing Islam faster than Chinese goods.
Well they say it was for the Free Syrian Army (aka Al Nusra)
Google Al Nusra and check out these images.
And yet, they have no trouble imposing FATCA on US citizens. They know where every penny a citizen earns anywhere in the world is, but they can't seem to find out how terrorists get hardware.
< Guess what the land cruisers sell for if you said:
$83,000 your scored.
Toyota needs to pay a price for letting this stuff go to terrorists.
Even if they aren't directly responsible they need to keep track of where their vehicles go.
We need a new slogan for Toyta:
Toyota:The truck for Terrorists, you cant go wrong.
Bingo!
Agree 100%
How would you propose they control third or fourth tier buyers?
They are no more responsible for ISIS getting their truck than a gun manufacturer is for what a bad guy with a stolen gun does with said gun.
Obama plans to send a strongly worded letter to the local Syrian Toyota dealership.
Smoke and Mirrors folks, come on....
Outrage over suppling trucks but nothing about weapons and munitions....... huh I wonder why?
Commies run the government and the media and tell me why do we pay any mind to them?

Iraqi security forces lost 2,300 Humvee armoured vehicles when the Islamic State jihadist group overran the northern city of Mosul, the prime minister Haider al-Abadi said on Sunday.
In the collapse of Mosul, we lost a lot of weapons, Abadi said in an interview with Iraqiya state TV. We lost 2,300 Humvees in Mosul alone.
While the exact price of the vehicles varies depending on how they are armoured and equipped, it is clearly a hugely expensive loss that has boosted Isiss capabilities.
Last year, the US State Department approved a possible sale to Iraq of 1,000 Humvees with increased armour, machine-guns, grenade launchers, other gear and support, which was estimated to cost $579 million.
Clashes began in Mosul, Iraqs second city, late on June 9, 2014, and Iraqi forces lost it the following day to Isis, which spearheaded an offensive that overran much of the countrys Sunni Arab heartland.
Syria and Iraq cant be solved by western boots on the ground

The militants gained ample arms, ammunition and other equipment when multiple Iraqi divisions fell apart in the countrys north, abandoning gear and shedding uniforms in their haste to flee. Isis has used captured Humvees, which were provided to Iraq by the United States, in subsequent fighting, rigging some with explosives for suicide bombings.
Iraqi security forces backed by Shiite militias have regained significant ground from Isis in Diyala and Salaheddin provinces north of Baghdad. But that momentum was slashed in mid-May when Isis overran Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, west of Baghdad, where Iraqi forces had held out against militants for more than a year.
