Watts told current House members who approached him about running for speaker that he was interested . . . How would any current member even think about approaching him?? ODD

Typical. The focus is on “black”. A “milestone”. “Making history”.

If he has not changed ..... In a heartbeat
But he's been out of the loop some 15 or so years (IIRC)

Republicans have been asking J.C. for years to get more involved, most times he would say no. I think he has the same problem that Jeb! does. J.C. has been away from the political action for so long, most people in congress now, may know very little about him, other that his obvious race.

Unless JC has changed, I’m 100% for him as SOTH.
They can do much worse than Watts.

I think Watts was a unreliable “conservative” wasn’t he?
Seems like we was right on a few things and wrong on many.
Either way doesn’t seem to plausible.

Watts, Cruz, Palin...
This is all ridiculous.
The House is NOT going to pick a non-member to be Speaker.

Rainey led an interesting and classic American life

The Democrats have really succeeded in destroying this nation.
First they used oppression and terror to gain their power. Then, and to this day, they use their prior terror and oppression to wheedle support.

How about Allen West? I could get behind that and we don’t have a conservative much better that he is.

Watts supported and voted for Obama because he was black. Another tribal racist. No thanks.

The game is winning the White House 2016... Letting Watts carry the ball for the House sounds like a good idea..... Much better than McCarthy the fumbler or Ryan the water boy!

The U.S. Congress hasnt elected an African-American as speaker of the House of Representatives since 1874, when South Carolina lawmaker Joseph Rainey became the first black speaker. The U.S. Congress has never elected a non-member as speaker. And I don't see them starting now.

A Black House Speaker?
It worked in "Blazing Saddles".

Watts voted for Obama. He’s disqualified.

While I don’t see a problem of them nominating a black or other race for Speaker, there is no way in the world they are going to elect someone not already in the House to be 3rd in line for the Presidency.
They won’t give up that power and prestige to one not their own.

He’d be a better choice than 99% of the others whose names I’ve heard bandied about.

"The power of the Congressional Black Caucus is truly unspeakable, U.S. Rep. Charlie Rangel, a Democrat from New York and CBC member, told NBCBLK last week.> That's funny. And he's probably too stupid to realize what he [actually] said.
