The intelligent idea would have been to take sufficient space to build a major military complex in Iraq and a military seaport in Basra, then take the oil, all of it, to finance our permanent base and operations. Even the Iraqis would have respected us much more had we done that and all of this crap that is ripping up the whole ME and back through Central Asia would not be happening.
