The title is a little misleading. It is members of the House that have a resolution to impeach IRS Chief.

GOP moves to impeach IRS chief

Could this be true? That the GOP has finally located some collective balls?

The GOP loves that the IRS attacked the Tea Party. This is underwhelming news

Impeachment is for elected officials. Indictment is for appointed ones. Both are just formal accusations stating that ther is sufficient evidence to go to trial.

Chaffetz said the impeachment effort is a response to Koskinen’s failure to comply with a subpoena demanding records relating to Lois Lerner’s role in the IRS targeting scandal. Republicans say the IRS erased 422 backup tapes that included thousands of Lerner’s missing emails.

He also said Koskinen offered false testimony to Congress, when he said Lerner’s emails were unrecoverable, and failed to tell Congress that some evidence was missing.

“Commissioner Koskinen violated the public trust,” Chaffetz said. “He failed to comply with a congressionally issued subpoena, documents were destroyed on his watch, and the public was consistently misled.”

In July, a federal judge threatened to “haul into court the IRS Commissioner to hold him personally in contempt” after failing to provide court mandated documents surrounding the targeting case.

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen has been stonewalling Congress and the courts for more than a year over Lois Lerner’s “missing” emails. He’s also ignored court orders to produce documentation and now, U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan has had enough.

During a hearing yesterday surrounding a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, Sullivan said he “will haul into court the IRS Commissioner to hold him personally into contempt” after the IRS failed to turn over ordered documentation to the Court. The information ordered included status reports and recovered emails belonging to former IRS official Lois Lerner. Sullivan also noted Department of Justice of attorneys are in the same position for failing to turn over ordered documentation.

RE: GOP moves to impeach IRS chief

SIGH.... Nobody has ever answered this for me...

What Punishment does a person get for being cited in CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS?

When someone is declared in contempt of court, that person gets jailed.

When Lois Lerner and Eric Holder were held in contempt of congress, what did they get?

In the case of the former, a cozy retirement and a fat pension.

So, what’s there to fear?

Why is it misleading? They introduced articles of impeachment outlining four charges.
